EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM GENERAL

  1. OUTLINE

    1. An EGR system is used. This system is designed to reduce and control NOx formation through a slight reduction of peak temperature in the engine combustion chamber, which is accomplished by introducing a small amount of inert gas into the intake manifold.

  2. MAJOR DIFFERENCE

    1. The major differences between the 1KD-FTV engine mounted in the previous Dyna 100/150 and the 1KD-FTV in the new Dyna 100/150 European models are as follows.

      1. A new outward-opening type EGR valve is used.

      2. A large capacity EGR cooler equipped with a cooler bypass switching valve which stabilizes the temperature of the EGR gas is used.
