OUTLINE
The 5L engine is an in-line 4-cylinder, 3.0-liter, OHC diesel engine. Based on the previous 3L engine, the 5L engine achieves higher engine performance by enlarging the bore to increase the cylinder displacement.
MAJOR DIFFERENCE
In addition to increasing the cylinder displacement by enlarging the bore of the 3L engine, the changes listed below have been made to create the 5L engine.
The closing position of the intake and exhaust valves has been relocated.
The shape of the swirl chamber has been modified.
A 4-layer steel laminate type cylinder head gasket has been adopted.
The cylinder block has been reinforced.
