OUTLINE
The 2KD-FTV TOYOTA D-4D (Direct injection 4-stroke common-rail Diesel engine) based on the 1KD-FTV engine is in-line 4-cylinder, 2.5-liter, 16 valve DOHC with intercooler turbocharged diesel engine and has been adopted to Dyna 100/150.
2KD-FTV Hi Version engine with the improved engine power and torque has been adopted to Dyna 150.
Each of the Dyna 100 model engine and the Dyna 150 model engine is equipped with an engine ECU that contains an engine control program that differs from each other.
This engine has following features that have been adopted in order to realize the further improvement of the engine performance, fuel economy and to reduce exhaust emissions.

The basic construction and operation are the same as 1KD-FTV engine in Land Cruiser/Land Cruiser Prado.

Cylinder head cover material has been changed.
A rib has been added to the back of the cylinder block.
The cylinder bore has been decreased.
The piston diameter has been decreased.
The piston ring carrier material has been changed.
Balance shafts have been discontinued.
