ENGINE UNIT GENERAL


  1. OUTLINE


    1. The 2KD-FTV TOYOTA D-4D (Direct injection 4-stroke common-rail Diesel engine) based on the 1KD-FTV engine is in-line 4-cylinder, 2.5-liter, 16 valve DOHC with intercooler turbocharged diesel engine and has been adopted to Dyna 100/150.

    2. 2KD-FTV Hi Version engine with the improved engine power and torque has been adopted to Dyna 150.

    3. Each of the Dyna 100 model engine and the Dyna 150 model engine is equipped with an engine ECU that contains an engine control program that differs from each other.

    4. This engine has following features that have been adopted in order to realize the further improvement of the engine performance, fuel economy and to reduce exhaust emissions.


      • Common-rail injection system

      • Lightweight and compact supply pump

      • Meets the European STEP III regulation requirements

      • EGR valve position sensor

    5. The basic construction and operation are the same as 1KD-FTV engine in Land Cruiser/Land Cruiser Prado.

    1. From 1KD-FTV engine on Land Cruiser/Land Cruiser Prado


      1. Cylinder head cover material has been changed.

      2. A rib has been added to the back of the cylinder block.

      3. The cylinder bore has been decreased.

      4. The piston diameter has been decreased.

      5. The piston ring carrier material has been changed.

      6. Balance shafts have been discontinued.

        Crankshaft pulley has adopted a torsional damper.
        A common-rail type fuel injection system is used.
        A pressure discharge valve has been adopted in the common-rail. -
        HP3 type supply pump has adopted. -
        A pilot injection control system is used.
        Injector is provided in the bore center to improve its air utilization rate.
        Piston provided with combustion chamber has been adopted in conjunction with the adoption of direct injection.
        An exhaust camshaft is driven by a timing belt and gear.
        A step motor type throttle and air flow meter are used.
        An automatic tensioner is provided for the timing belt.
        A serpentine belt drive system to drive accessory components is used.
        An EGR and a catalytic converter for oxidation are used.
        EGR valve position sensor is used. -
        The passage for the EGR is provided in the cylinder head.
        Oil maintenance management system has been provided. -
