STEERING COLUMN SYSTEM GENERAL


  1. OUTLINE


    1. A manual tilt and telescopic mechanism and a power tilt and telescopic system are available.

    2. The manual tilt and telescopic mechanism allows adjustment of the steering wheel position in the vertical and longitudinal directions via the operation of a lever. This provides a comfortable driving position for the driver.

    3. The power tilt and telescopic system consists of the multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU, tilt and telescopic switch, tilt motor, and telescopic motor.

    4. An energy absorbing mechanism is used to help reduce the impact to the driver in the event of a collision.

    5. The steering shake damper is mounted in the steering wheel to reduce vibration in the steering mechanism.

    1. The new models have been modified from the previous models as shown below:


      1. The 3 spoke steering wheel design has been changed.

      2. The 4 spoke steering wheel has been discontinued.
