FOUR WHEEL DRIVE CONTROL SYSTEM GENERAL


  1. OUTLINE


    1. A full-time UF1AE transfer is used on the AWD models.

    2. This transfer uses a planetary gear type limited slip center differential.

    3. This transfer also uses the AWD control system. Based on driving conditions, this system optimally distributes driving force to the front and rear wheels. Distribution of the driving force is conducted by electronic control of the center differential limiting device.

    4. The AWD control system is a full-time AWD that electronically controls the center differential limiting device of the transfer to distribute optimal drive forces to the front and rear wheels in accordance with the driving conditions.

    5. The AWD control system mainly consists of a hydraulic control mechanism of the transfer unit, steering sensor, 4 speed sensors, a skid control ECU and a 4WD ECU assembly.

    6. The 4WD ECU assembly drives the transfer control solenoid assembly in accordance with the vehicle speed and vehicle behavior to control the hydraulic pressure in the center differential limiting device, thus variably regulating the drive force distribution of the front and rear wheels between 30:70 and 50:50.
