VARIABLE GEAR RATIO STEERING SYSTEM GENERAL


  1. OUTLINE


    1. A Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS) system, which controls the turning angle of the front wheels, is used on models with LEXUS Dynamic Handling (LDH) system.

    2. The LDH system integrates and controls the VGRS system, Dynamic Rear Steering (DRS) system and Electric Power Steering (EPS) system, thus achieving both vehicle reaction performance appropriate to the driver's intention and superior vehicle stability.

    3. The LDH system drives the steering actuator assembly in the VGRS system and the rear steering link assembly in the DRS system in accordance with the steered angle of the steering wheel and the vehicle speed, thus controlling the vehicle slip angle and yaw rate to achieve target vehicle characteristics.
