BACK DOOR GLASS REMOVAL


  1. PRECAUTION

    Note

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Click here.

  2. REMOVE BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER

      Remove the clip and battery service hole cover.

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  4. REMOVE CENTER BACK DOOR GARNISH

      Detach the 4 clips and 4 claws, and remove the center back door garnish.

  5. REMOVE BACK DOOR SIDE GARNISH LH


    1. A01IUHF

      Detach the 2 clips and claw, and remove the back door side garnish.

  6. REMOVE BACK DOOR SIDE GARNISH RH


    1. A01IOOI

      Detach the 2 clips and claw, and remove the back door side garnish.

  7. REMOVE BACK DOOR INSIDE HANDLE

      Using moulding remover D, detach the 4 claws and remove the back door inside handle.

  8. REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY

      Detach the clip.

    2. A01IPJU

      Detach the 12 clips and remove the back door trim board.

  9. REMOVE NO. 2 BACK DOOR PANEL PROTECTOR

    1. Remove the clip and No. 2 back door panel protector.

  10. REMOVE NO. 1 BACK DOOR PANEL PROTECTOR

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure described for the No. 2 back door panel protector.

  11. REMOVE REAR SPOILER SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 4 nuts.

      *1 Protective Tape

      Put protective tape around the rear spoiler.

    3. Detach the 4 clips and pin, and remove the rear spoiler.

  12. REMOVE REAR WIPER ARM


    1. A01IR64

      Open the wiper arm head cap.

    2. A01ISLG

      Remove the nut and rear wiper arm.

  13. REMOVE REAR WIPER MOTOR AND BRACKET ASSEMBLY


    1. A01IQRE

      Disconnect the connector.

    2. Remove the 3 bolts and rear wiper motor and bracket assembly.

  14. REMOVE REAR WIPER MOTOR GROMMET


    1. A01IPTL

      Remove the wiper motor grommet.

  15. REMOVE BACK DOOR GLASS

      Apply protective tape to the outer surface of the vehicle body to prevent scratches.

      Note

      When separating the back door glass from the vehicle, be careful not to damage the vehicle paint or interior/exterior ornaments.

    2. Disconnect the connectors.

      *2 Piano Wire

      From the interior, insert a piano wire between the vehicle body and back door glass as shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Make sure not to damage the wire harness.

    4. Tie objects that can serve as handles (for example, wooden blocks) to both wire ends.

      Place matchmarks on the glass and vehicle body at the locations indicated in the illustration.

      Tech Tips

      Matchmarks do not need to be placed if the glass is not going to be reused.

    6. Cut through the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the back door glass.

      Note

      Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible when removing the back door glass.

      Using suction cups, remove the back door glass.

  16. REMOVE NO. 1 BACK WINDOW GLASS SPACER


    1. Using a scraper, remove the spacer.

  17. REMOVE NO. 2 BACK WINDOW GLASS SPACER


    1. Using a scraper, remove the spacer.

  18. REMOVE BACK DOOR GLASS SPACER


    1. Using a scraper, remove the 2 spacers.

  19. REMOVE BACK WINDOW OUTSIDE MOULDING


    1. Using a scraper, remove the moulding.

  20. CLEAN VEHICLE BODY

    1. Clean and shape the contact surface of the vehicle body.


      1. On the contact surface of the vehicle body, use a knife to cut away excess adhesive as shown in the illustration.

        Tech Tips

        Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible.

        Note

        Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

      2. Clean the contact surface of the vehicle body with cleaner.

        Tech Tips

        Even if all the adhesive has been removed, clean the vehicle body.
