P161A LIN Communication Error with Alternator

DESCRIPTION

The power management control ECU and generator assembly detect reception errors respectively.

The generator assembly reception error detected by the generator assembly is sent to the power management control ECU via LIN communication. If an error occurs in the power management control ECU or generator assembly, the power management control ECU determines there is a LIN communication error and stores this DTC.

DTC Code DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
P161A A reception error in the power management control ECU or generator assembly continues for approximately 17 minutes or more with the ignition switch ON (1 trip detection logic).

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU - GENERATOR ASSEMBLY)


    1. Disconnect the H70 power management control ECU connector.

    2. Disconnect the C101 generator assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H70-1 (LIN1) - C101-1 (LIN) Always Below 1 Ω
      H70-1 (LIN1) or C101-1 (LIN) - Body ground and other terminals Ignition switch off (while LIN communication is stopped) 10 kΩ or higher

    1. Disconnect the H73 power management control ECU connector.

    2. Disconnect the C101 generator assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H73-17 (LIN1) - C101-1 (LIN) Always Below 1 Ω
      H73-17 (LIN1) or C101-1 (LIN) - Body ground and other terminals Ignition switch off (while LIN communication is stopped) 10 kΩ or higher
