REAR SHOCK ABSORBER INSTALLATION

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.


  1. INSTALL REAR BUMPER SPRING LH


    1. A01IPWF

      Install the rear bumper spring to the rear shock absorber.

  2. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY LH


    1. A01IPJW

      Support the spring seat of the rear axle beam assembly using a jack and wooden block.

      Note


      • Do not excessively jack up the rear axle beam assembly.

      • When moving the rear axle beam assembly beyond full rebound, make sure that the beam is not out of position for more than 10 minutes.

    2. A01ISUR

      Temporarily install the rear shock absorber assembly to the rear axle beam assembly with the bolt and nut.

    3. Slowly raise the jack and insert the upper part of the rear shock absorber to the installation hole.

      Tech Tips

      Support the rear shock absorber assembly at a position where it compresses by approximately 20 to 30 mm (0.787 to 1.18 in.).

  3. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION SUPPORT ASSEMBLY LH


    1. A01ISY3E01

      Install the rear suspension support.

      Note

      Make sure that the rear suspension support is correctly installed as shown in the illustration.

  4. INSTALL REAR SHOCK ABSORBER CUSHION RETAINER


    1. A01IRF0

      Install the rear shock absorber cushion retainer.

      Note

      Be sure to install the rear shock absorber cushion retainer in the correct direction.

    2. A01IN8FE01

      Using a 6 mm socket hexagon wrench, secure the rear shock absorber assembly and install a new lock nut.

      Torque:
      25 N*m  { 255 kgf*cm, 18 ft.*lbf }

  5. INSTALL REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY RH (w/ HID Headlight)


    1. A01ITMT

      Install the rear height control sensor with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      8.0 N*m  { 82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf }

    2. Connect the connector.

  6. INSTALL DECK TRIM SIDE PANEL ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Install the deck trim side panel assembly LH Click here.

  7. INSTALL REAR WHEEL

    Torque:
    103 N*m  { 1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf }

  8. STABILIZE SUSPENSION


    1. Lower the vehicle.

    2. Bounce the vehicle up and down several times to stabilize the suspension.

  9. TIGHTEN REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY LH


    1. A01IOJF

      Tighten the bolt of the rear shock absorber (lower side).

      Torque:
      90 N*m  { 918 kgf*cm, 66 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      Since a stopper nut is used, hold the nut while tightening the bolt.

  10. INSPECT REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT


    1. Inspect the rear wheel alignment Click here.

  11. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD (w/ VSC)

  12. INITIALIZE HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SIGNAL (w/ HID Headlight)


    1. Initialize the height control sensor signal Click here.

  13. INSPECT AND ADJUST HEADLIGHT AIMING (w/ HID Headlight)


    1. Inspect and adjust the headlight aiming Click here.
