FUEL SYSTEM PRECAUTION


  1. IGNITION SWITCH EXPRESSION

    Tech Tips

    The type of ignition switch used on this model differs according to the specifications of the vehicle. The expressions listed in the table below are used in this section.

  2. FUEL SYSTEM


    1. Observe these precautions when disconnecting the fuel tube connector (for quick type A).


      1. A01IO7H

        Detach the lock claw by lifting up the cover as shown in the illustration.

      2. Check for dirt or mud on the pipe and around the connector before disconnection. Clean if necessary.

      3. A01ISB2

        Pinch the connector and disconnect the connector and pipe.

        If the connector and the pipe are stuck together, pinch the connector, and then push and pull the pipe to disconnect the pipe and pull it out.

        Note

        Do not use any tools in this procedure.

      4. Check for dirt or mud on the seal surface of the disconnected pipe. Clean if necessary.

        To protect the disconnected connector from damage and contamination, cover it with a plastic bag.

    2. Observe these precautions when connecting the fuel tube connector (for quick type A).


      1. A01INZTE06

        Before connecting the connector, check that there is no damage or contamination in the connecting part of the pipe.

      2. Align the axis of the connector with the axis of the pipe. Push the pipe into the connector until the connector makes a "click" sound. If it is difficult to connect the pipe and connector, apply a small amount of fresh spindle oil or gasoline to the tip of the pipe.

      3. A01INZTE07

        After having finished the connection, try to pull apart the pipe and the connector to confirm that they are securely connected.

      4. A01IO7HE22

        Attach the lock claw to the connector by pushing down on the cover as shown in the illustration.

      5. Check for fuel leaks.

    3. A01ISLZ

      Observe these precautions when disconnecting the fuel tube connector (for quick type B).


      1. Check for dirt or mud on the pipe and around the connector before disconnection. Clean if necessary.

      2. Detach the 2 claws of the connector retainer, push down on the connector and disconnect it from the pipe.

        Note

        Do not use any tools in this procedure.

      3. A01ITNQ

        If the connector and pipe are stuck, pinch the fuel pipe by hand, and push and pull the connector to disconnect it.

      4. Check for foreign matter on the seal surface of the disconnected pipe. Clean if necessary.

      5. A01IQZH

        To protect the disconnected connector from damage and foreign matter, cover it with a plastic bag.

    4. A01IQG8

      Observe these precautions when connecting the fuel tube connector (for quick type B).


      1. Check for foreign matter on the pipe and around the connector before connecting them. Clean if necessary.

      2. Align the axis of the connector with the axis of the pipe. Push the pipe into the connector, and then push up on the retainer.

      3. A01IRI6E04

        After connecting the pipe and connector, try to pull them apart to confirm that they are securely connected.

      4. Check for fuel leaks.

    5. A01IS1Y

      Observe these precautions when disconnecting the fuel tube connector (for quick type C).


      1. Check for dirt or mud on the injector and around the connector before disconnection. Clean if necessary.

      2. Detach the hook of the fuel tube connector retainer, open the retainer, and then disconnect the fuel tube connector from the injector.

        Note

        Do not use any tools in this procedure.

      3. A01IOH9

        If the connector and injector are stuck, pinch the fuel tube connector by hand, and push and pull the connector to disconnect it.

      4. Check for foreign matter on the seal surface of the disconnected injector. Clean if necessary.

      5. A01INQR

        To protect the disconnected connector from damage and foreign matter, cover it with a plastic bag.

    6. A01IRU4

      Observe these precautions when connecting the fuel tube connector (for quick type C).


      1. Check for foreign matter on the injector and around the connector before connecting them. Clean if necessary.

      2. Push the fuel tube connector onto the injector and close the retainer to connect the fuel tube connector.

      3. A01IQB2

        After connecting the injector and connector, try to pull them apart to confirm that they are securely connected.

      4. Check for fuel leaks.

    7. Observe the following precautions when handling a nylon tube:

      Note


      • Do not twist the connection part of the nylon tube when connecting it.

      • Do not bend or twist the nylon tube.

      • Do not remove the EPDM protector on the outside of the nylon tube.

      • Do not close the piping by bending the nylon tube.
