CYLINDER BLOCK REPLACEMENT


  1. REPLACE CYLINDER BLOCK STUD BOLT

    Note

    If a stud bolt is deformed or the threads are damaged, replace it.


    1. Remove the stud bolts.

    2. Apply adhesive to the holes for the stud bolts labeled A on the cylinder block. Install new stud bolts labeled A.

      Adhesive
      Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1344, Three Bond 1344 or equivalent
      Torque:
      20 N*m  { 204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf }
    3. Using an E5 "TORX" socket wrench, install new stud bolts labeled B and C.

      Torque:
      3.0 N*m  { 31 kgf*cm, 27 in.*lbf }

    4. A01IOWL

      Apply adhesive to the holes for the stud bolts on the crankshaft bearing cap. Install 2 new stud bolts to the crankshaft bearing cap.

      Adhesive
      Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1344, Three Bond 1344 or equivalent
      Torque:
      5.0 N*m  { 51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf }
  2. REPLACE CYLINDER BLOCK STRAIGHT PIN

    Note

    It is not necessary to remove the straight pin unless it is being replaced.


    1. Remove the straight pin.

    2. Using a plastic-faced hammer, tap in a new straight pin to the cylinder block.

      Pin C 18 mm (0.709 in.)
      Pin D 7.5 mm (0.725 in.)
      Pin E 7.5 mm (0.725 in.)

    3. A01IP52

      Using a plastic-faced hammer, tap in new ring pins to the crankshaft bearing cap.

      Standard protrusion
      6.5 mm (0.256 in.)
