DESCRIPTION

Power is supplied to the radio receiver assembly and steering pad switch assembly illumination when the light control switch is in the tail or head position.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

CAUTION:

The vehicle is equipped with an SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) which includes components such as airbags. Before servicing (including removal or installation of parts), be sure to read the precautionary notice for the SRS (Click here).

Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

PROCEDURE


  1. Click here

    CHECK ILLUMINATION


    1. Check if the illumination for the radio receiver, steering pad switch assembly, glove box or other parts (hazard switch, transmission control switch, etc.) comes on when the light control switch is turned to the head or tail position.

    CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL WITH SENSOR CABLE - BATTERY)

      Disconnect the H11 spiral with sensor cable sub-assembly connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      H11-12 (IL+2) - Body ground Light control switch in position tail or head 11 to 14 V

    INSPECT STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the steering pad switch assembly (Click here).

    2. Inspect the steering pad switch assembly (Click here).

    INSPECT SPIRAL WITH SENSOR CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the spiral with sensor cable sub-assembly (Click here).

      CAUTION:

      The spiral with sensor cable subassembly is an important part of the SRS airbag system. Incorrect removal or installation of the spiral with sensor cable subassembly may prevent the airbag from deploying. Be sure to read the Precaution for the SRS (Click here).

    2. Inspect the spiral with sensor cable sub-assembly (Click here)


  5. Click here

    CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER AND SPIRAL WITH SENSOR CABLE - BODY GROUND)


    1. Disconnect the H114 radio receiver assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the H11 spiral with sensor cable sub-assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H114-23 (SWG) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      H11-4 (EAU) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
