BACK DOOR GLASS INSTALLATION


  1. INSTALL BACK WINDOW OUTSIDE MOULDING


    1. Apply Primer G to the installation part of the back window outside moulding.

      Tech Tips

      If primer is applied to an area that is not specified, wipe off the primer with a non-residue solvent before it dries.

      Install a new back window outside moulding onto the back door glass, as shown in the illustration.

      Tech Tips


      • Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.

      • Throw away any leftover primer.

      • Do not apply too much primer.

  2. INSTALL BACK WINDOW LOWER MOULDING


    1. Apply Primer G to the installation part of the back window lower moulding.

      Tech Tips

      If primer is applied to an area that is not specified, wipe off the primer with a non-residue solvent before it dries.

  3. INSTALL NO. 2 BACK WINDOW GLASS SPACER


    1. Apply Primer G to the installation part of the No. 2 back window glass spacer.

      Tech Tips

      If primer is applied to an area that is not specified, wipe off the primer with a non-residue solvent before it dries.

  4. INSTALL NO. 1 BACK WINDOW GLASS SPACER

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  5. INSTALL BACK DOOR GLASS SPACER


    1. Apply Primer G to the installation part of the back window glass spacer.

      Tech Tips

      If primer is applied to an area that is not specified, wipe off the primer with a non-residue solvent before it dries.

      Install 2 new back door glass spacers onto the back door glass, as shown in the illustration.

      Tech Tips


      • Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.

      • Throw away any leftover primer.

      • Do not apply too much primer.

  6. INSTALL BACK DOOR GLASS


    1. Using a brush, coat the installation surface on the vehicle body with Primer M.

      • Do not coat the adhesive with Primer M.

      • Do not apply too much primer.

      • Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.

      • Throw away any leftover primer.

      Tech Tips

      If an area other than that specified is coated by accident, wipe off the primer with a clean piece of cloth before it dries.

    2. Using a brush or a sponge, coat the application area of the adhesive with Primer G.

      • Do not apply too much primer.

      • Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.

      • Throw away any leftover primer.

      • Apply Primer G onto the ceramic notches.

      • If an area other than that specified is coated by accident, wipe off the primer with a clean piece of cloth before it dries.

    3. Apply adhesive to the back door glass.

      Adhesive
      Toyota Genuine Windshield Glass Adhesive or equivalent

        Cut off the tip of the cartridge nozzle as shown in the illustration.

        Tech Tips

        After cutting off the tip, use all the adhesive within the time described in the table below.

      2. Load the sealer gun with cartridge.

      3. Apply adhesive to the back door glass as shown in the illustration.

    4. Install the back door glass.

        Position the back door glass so that the matchmarks are aligned, and press it in gently along the rim (when glass without a clip is used).

      2. Lightly press the back door glass to ensure that the back door glass is securely fit to the vehicle body (when glass without a clip is used).

        Tech Tips

        Press the glass with a force of 98 N (10 kgf, 22 lbf) or more.

        Using suction cups, engage the 2 clips to install the back door glass (when glass with all clips is used).

        Note


        • Check that the clips are attached to the vehicle body correctly.

        • Check the clearance between the vehicle body and back door glass.

      4. Lightly press the front surface of the back door glass to ensure that the back door glass is securely fit to the vehicle body.

        Tech Tips

        Press the back door glass with a force of 98 N (10 kgf, 22 lbf) or more.

        Using a scraper, remove any excess or protruding adhesive.

        Tech Tips

        Apply adhesive onto the glass rim.

      6. Hold the back door glass using protective tape until applied adhesive becomes hard.

        Note

        Do not drive the vehicle within the time described in the table below.

      Engage the 2 clamps.

    6. Connect the 3 connectors.

  7. INSPECT FOR LEAK AND REPAIR


    1. After the adhesive has hardened, apply water from the outside of the vehicle. Check that no water leaks into the cabin.

    2. If water leaks into the cabin, allow the water to dry and add adhesive.

    3. Remove the protective tape.

  8. INSTALL REAR WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY


    1. Operate the wiper and stop the windshield wiper motor at the automatic stop position.

    2. When reusing the rear wiper arm and blade assembly:

        Clean the wiper arm serrations.

    3. When reusing the rear wiper motor assembly:

        Clean the wiper pivot serrations with a wire brush.

      Install the rear wiper arm and blade assembly with the nut to the position shown in the illustration.

      Torque:
      5.5 N*m  { 56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf }

      Tech Tips

      Hold the wiper arm by hand while tightening the nut.

    5. Operate the rear wiper while spraying washer fluid onto the back door glass. Make sure that the rear wiper functions properly and the wiper does not come into contact with the vehicle body.

  9. INSTALL REAR SPOILER SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. A01NM53

      Clean the threads of the 3 rear spoiler inserts.

    2. Apply adhesive to the threads of the 3 rear spoiler inserts.

      Adhesive
      Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent
    3. Install the 2 pins.

    4. Install a new clip.

      Engage the clip and 2 pins to install the rear spoiler sub-assembly.

    6. A01NLW9

      Install the 5 nuts.

      Torque:
      5.9 N*m  { 60 kgf*cm, 52 in.*lbf }
    7. Install the 2 hole plugs.

    8. Connect each connector.

  10. INSTALL BACK DOOR TRIM COVER LH

      Engage the 3 clips to install the back door trim cover LH.

  11. INSTALL BACK DOOR TRIM COVER RH

      Engage the 3 clips to install the back door trim cover RH.

  12. INSTALL BACK DOOR TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY

  17. INSTALL NO. 2 ROOM LIGHT ASSEMBLY


    1. Connect the connector.

      Engage the claw to install the No. 2 room light assembly.

  18. INSTALL BACK DOOR LOCK COVER

      Engage the 4 claws to install the back door lock cover.

  19. INSTALL BACK DOOR FINISH COVER LH (w/o Power Back Door)

      Engage the 6 claws to install the back door finish cover LH.

  20. INSTALL BACK DOOR TRIM BASE (w/ Power Back Door)

      Engage the 4 claws to install the back door trim base.

  21. INSTALL BACK DOOR FINISH COVER RH (w/o Power Back Door)

      Engage the 6 claws to install the back door finish cover RH.

  22. INSTALL DOOR PULL HANDLE WITH SWITCH (w/ Power Back Door)


    1. Connect the connector.

      Engage the 6 claws to install the door pull handle with switch.
