REAR SPEED SENSOR (for 2WD) REMOVAL

Tip:
  • Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  • The following procedure is for the LH side.

  • The rear speed sensor is a component of the rear axle hub and bearing assembly. If the sensor malfunctions, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

  • If the sensor rotor needs to be replaced, replace it together with the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

    PRECAUTION (w/ Navigation System for HDD)

    Note:

    After the power switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the power switch off, make sure to wait at least 60 seconds before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

    REMOVE REAR DECK FLOOR BOX

      Remove the 3 clips and the rear deck floor box.

    DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL

    Note:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Click here).

    REMOVE REAR WHEEL

  5. Click here

    REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION ARM COVER

      Remove the 2 bolts.

    2. Disengage the 2 guides and remove the rear suspension arm cover from the rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly.

  6. Click here

    SEPARATE REAR SPEED SENSOR WIRE


    1. A01NJG5

      Remove the bolt and No. 1 bracket.

    2. A01NNEKE01

      Using a screwdriver, disconnect the connector from the rear speed sensor.

      Note:

      Be careful not to damage the rear speed sensor.

    SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY


    1. A01NLTQ

      Remove the 2 bolts, and separate the rear disc brake caliper assembly.

      Note:

      Use wire or an equivalent tool to keep the brake caliper from hanging down by the flexible hose.

    REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING HOLE PLUG


    1. Remove the parking brake shoe adjusting hole plug.

    REMOVE REAR DISC

      Put matchmarks on the rear disc and the axle hub.

      Release the parking brake and remove the rear disc.

      Tip:

      If the disc can not be removed easily, use a screwdriver to turn the shoe adjuster as shown in the illustration in order to contract the parking brake shoes.

    REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the rear axle hub and bearing assembly (Click here).

      Tip:
      • The rear speed sensor is a component of the rear axle hub and bearing assembly. If the sensor malfunctions, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

      • If the sensor rotor needs to be replaced, replace it together with the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
