HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSAXLE REMOVAL


  1. REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY WITH TRANSAXLE

  2. REMOVE FRONT FRAME ASSEMBLY


    1. A01NMHO

      Disconnect the 2 clamps and engine wire from the front frame assembly.

    2. A01NIFI

      Remove the bolt and HV transaxle mass damper.

    3. Remove the 2 nuts and separate the engine mounting insulators LH and RH.

    4. A01NLNS

      Remove the bolt and separate the front engine mounting insulator.

    5. A01NM2X

      Remove the 2 bolts and separate the rear engine mounting insulator.

      Note

      Do not remove the rear engine mounting insulator assembly through bolts. Doing so makes it difficult to install the rear engine mounting insulator assembly.

    6. Remove the front frame assembly.

  3. REMOVE MANIFOLD STAY

      Remove the bolt, nut and manifold stay.

  4. SEPARATE ENGINE WIRE


    1. Disconnect the 4 connectors and 8 wire harness clamps.

  5. REMOVE NO. 3 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CASE COVER


    1. A01NK7O

      Remove the bolt and No. 3 transmission control cable bracket.

    2. A01NJ0D

      Remove the 2 bolts, clip and No. 3 automatic transmission case cover from the transaxle.

  6. REMOVE FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET


    1. A01NKQ5

      Remove the 3 bolts and front engine mounting bracket.

  7. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CASE COVER

      Remove the 2 bolts and automatic transmission case cover.

  8. REMOVE HYBRID TRANSAXLE MASS DAMPER


    1. A01NN8U

      Remove the hybrid transaxle mass damper and gasket.

  9. REMOVE HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 10 bolts.

    2. Separate and remove the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.

      Note

      Do not pry between the transaxle assembly and engine more than necessary to prevent the knock pins from being damaged.

  10. REMOVE NO. 2 TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE BRACKET


    1. A01NMYZ

      Remove the bolt and No. 2 transmission control cable bracket.

  11. REMOVE WIRE HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET


    1. A01NMIP

      Remove the 2 bolts and 2 wire harness clamp brackets.

  12. REMOVE NO. 1 TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE BRACKET

      Remove the 2 bolts and No. 1 transmission control cable bracket.

  13. REMOVE OUTLET OIL COOLER TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY

      *1 Oil Cooler Tube Union
      *2 Outlet Oil Cooler Tube Sub-assembly
      *3 No. 1 Oil Cooler Tube Clamp
      *4 No. 2 Oil Cooler Tube Clamp

      Using a union nut wrench (17 mm), disconnect the outlet oil cooler tube sub-assembly.

    2. Remove the bolt, No. 2 oil cooler tube clamp and outlet oil cooler tube sub-assembly from the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.

      Remove the oil cooler tube union and gasket from the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.

    4. A01NJ7X

      Remove the bolt and No. 1 oil cooler tube clamp from the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.

  14. REMOVE TRANSAXLE CASE PROTECTOR

    Tech Tips


      Perform this step if either of the following conditions is met:

    • The transaxle case protector is cracked.

    • The seal is peeled off or worn out.

      Remove the clip, 2 bolts and transaxle case protector from the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.
