STEERING WHEEL REMOVAL

Note


  • Do not replace the spiral cable with the auxiliary battery connected and the power switch on (IG).

  • Do not rotate the spiral cable without the steering wheel with the auxiliary battery connected and the power switch on (IG).

  • Ensure that the steering wheel is installed and aligned straight when inspecting the steering sensor.

  • Do not remove the steering sensor from the spiral cable.


  1. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

  2. REMOVE STEERING PAD

  3. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY


    1. Disconnect each connector from the spiral cable.

    2. w/ Steering Heater:

        Disconnect the connector.

      Remove the steering wheel assembly set nut.

    4. Put matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and steering main shaft.

      *b Hold

      Using SST, remove the steering wheel assembly.

      SST
      09950-50013   ( 09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05070 )

      Note

      Apply a small amount of grease to the threads and tip of SST (09953-05020) before use.

  4. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY

      Disengage the clamp to separate the connector from the lower steering wheel boss cover.

    2. A01NN8F

      Remove the 2 screws.

    3. Disengage the 2 claws and 2 pins to remove the steering pad switch assembly from the steering wheel sub-assembly.

  5. REMOVE CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH

      Remove the 2 screws.

    2. A01NKO3

      Disconnect the connector and remove the cruise control main switch as shown in the illustration.

  6. REMOVE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH WIRE

  7. REMOVE LOWER STEERING WHEEL BOSS COVER


    1. w/ Steering Heater:

        Disconnect the connector from the steering wheel heater control assembly.

        *a Double-sided Tape

        Remove the double-sided tape and separate the steering heater harness from the lower steering wheel boss cover.

    2. A01NKIE

      Disengage the 4 claws to remove the lower steering wheel boss cover from the steering wheel sub-assembly.

  8. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL HEATER CONTROL ASSEMBLY (w/ Steering Heater)

      Disengage the clamp.

    2. Remove the 2 screws and steering wheel heater control assembly from the lower steering wheel boss cover.
