FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY (for 1AR-FE) DISASSEMBLY


  1. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT HOLE SNAP RING

      Using a screwdriver, remove the front drive shaft hole snap ring.

  2. REMOVE NO. 2 FRONT AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP LH

      for one touch type:

      Using a screwdriver, remove the No. 2 front axle inboard joint boot clamp LH as shown in the illustration.

    2. for claw engagement type:

      Using needle-nose pliers, remove the No. 2 front axle inboard joint boot clamp LH as shown in the illustration.

  3. REMOVE NO. 2 FRONT AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP RH

    Tech Tips

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  4. REMOVE FRONT AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP LH


    1. Remove the front axle inboard joint boot clamp LH.

      Tech Tips

      Perform the same procedure as for the No. 2 front axle inboard joint boot clamp LH.

  5. REMOVE FRONT AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP RH

    Tech Tips

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  6. SEPARATE INBOARD JOINT BOOT


    1. Separate the inboard joint boot from the front drive inboard joint assembly.

  7. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE INBOARD JOINT ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Remove the old grease from the front drive inboard joint assembly LH.

      Put matchmarks on the front drive inboard joint assembly LH and front drive outboard joint shaft assembly LH.

      Note

      Do not punch the marks.

    3. Remove the front drive inboard joint assembly LH from the front drive outboard joint shaft assembly LH.

    4. Hold the front drive outboard joint shaft assembly LH in a vise using aluminum plates.

      Note

      Do not overtighten the vise.

      Using a snap ring expander, remove the shaft snap ring.

      Put matchmarks on the front drive outboard joint shaft assembly LH and tripod joint.

      Note

      Do not punch the marks.

    7. Using a brass bar and a hammer, tap out the tripod joint from the front drive outboard joint shaft assembly LH.

      Note


      • Do not tap the rollers.

      • Do not drop the tripod joint.

    8. Remove the inboard joint boot.

  8. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE INBOARD JOINT ASSEMBLY RH

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  9. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT DAMPER CLAMP LH

  10. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT DAMPER CLAMP RH

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  11. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT DAMPER LH


    1. Remove the front drive shaft damper LH.

  12. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT DAMPER RH

    Tech Tips

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  13. REMOVE NO. 2 FRONT AXLE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP LH

      Using a screwdriver, remove the No. 2 front axle outboard joint boot clamp LH as shown in the illustration.

  14. REMOVE NO. 2 FRONT AXLE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP RH

    Tech Tips

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  15. REMOVE FRONT AXLE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP LH

      Using a screwdriver, remove the front axle outboard joint boot clamp LH as shown in the illustration.

  16. REMOVE FRONT AXLE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP RH

    Tech Tips

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  17. REMOVE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT (for LH Side)


    1. Remove the outboard joint boot from the front drive outboard joint shaft assembly LH.

    2. Remove the old grease from the front drive outboard joint shaft assembly LH.

  18. REMOVE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT (for RH Side)

    Tech Tips

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  19. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT DUST COVER LH

      Using SST and a press, press out the front drive shaft dust cover LH.

      Note

      Be careful not to drop the front drive inboard joint assembly LH.

  20. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT DUST COVER RH

    Tech Tips

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  21. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT DUST COVER (for RH Side)

      Using SST and a press, press out the front drive shaft dust cover.

  22. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT HOLE SNAP RING RH

      Using a snap ring expander, remove the front drive shaft hole snap ring RH.

  23. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT BEARING


    1. A019O0AE06

      Using SST and a press, press out the front drive shaft bearing.

      Note

      Be careful not to drop the front drive inboard joint assembly RH.

    2. Remove the bearing bracket hole snap ring.
