STARTER DISASSEMBLY


  1. REMOVE MAGNETIC SWITCH ASSEMBLY

      Remove the nut and disconnect the lead wire from the magnetic switch assembly.

    2. for Type A:


      1. A019P2E

        Remove the 2 nuts and magnetic switch assembly.

    3. for Type B:


      1. A019O85

        While holding the magnetic switch assembly, remove the 2 screws from the repair service starter kit.

      2. Remove the magnetic switch assembly.

      3. Remove the return spring and plunger from the repair service starter kit.

  2. REMOVE STARTER YOKE ASSEMBLY


    1. A019MXO

      Remove the 2 through-bolts and pull out the starter yoke assembly together with the starter commutator end frame assembly.

    2. A019JUC

      Remove the starter yoke assembly from the starter commutator end frame assembly.

  3. REMOVE STARTER ARMATURE PLATE


    1. A019K9X

      Remove the starter armature plate from the starter yoke assembly.

  4. REMOVE STARTER COMMUTATOR END FRAME COVER


    1. A019O3T

      Using a screwdriver, pry out the starter commutator end frame cover.

  5. REMOVE STARTER ARMATURE ASSEMBLY

      *a Snap Ring Pliers

      Using snap ring pliers, remove the snap ring and washer.

      Note

      Do not drop the starter armature assembly.

    2. Remove the starter armature assembly from the starter commutator end frame assembly.

  6. REMOVE PLANETARY GEAR


    1. for Type A:


      1. A019O1Y

        Remove the rubber seal.

      2. A019PGV

        Remove the 3 planetary gears from the repair service starter kit.

    2. for Type B:


      1. A019NYC

        Remove the 3 planetary gears from the repair service starter kit.
