INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note

Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

Tech Tips

Read freeze frame data using the intelligent tester. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (ACTIVATE THE VSV FOR INTAKE CONTROL)

      *1 Port F
      *2 Port E
      *a VSV is ON
      *b VSV is OFF
      *c Air

Disconnect the vacuum hose from port F on the vacuum switching valve for ACIS.

    2. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    3. Start the engine.

    4. Turn the tester on.

    5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Active Test / Active the VSV for Intake Control.

    6. Operate the vacuum switching valve for ACIS.

    7. Check the vacuum switching valve for ACIS air flow when switching the vacuum switching valve for ACIS.

      OK
      Test Condition Specified Condition
VSV for ACIS is ON Air from port E flows out through port F
VSV for ACIS is OFF Air from port E flows out through air filter
    8. Reconnect the vacuum hose to port F on the vacuum switching valve for ACIS.

    NG
    OK
  2. INSPECT VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE (FOR ACIS)

    1. Inspect the vacuum switching valve for ACIS Click here.

(to Vacuum Switching Valve for ACIS)

Disconnect the vacuum switching valve for ACIS connector.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      D45-2 - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
    4. Reconnect the vacuum switching valve for ACIS connector.

    NG
    OK
  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE FOR ACIS - ECM)

    1. Disconnect the vacuum switching valve for ACIS connector.

    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D45-1 - D44-27 (ACIS) Always Below 1 Ω
      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
D45-1 or D44-27 (ACIS) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the vacuum switching valve for ACIS connector.

    5. Reconnect the ECM connector.

    NG
    OK
