DESCRIPTION
The VVT (Variable Valve Timing) system adjusts the intake valve timing to improve drivability. The engine oil pressure turns the VVT controller to adjust the valve timing.
The camshaft timing oil control valve assembly is a solenoid valve and switches the engine oil line. The valve moves when the ECM applies 12 V to the solenoid. The ECM changes the energizing time to the solenoid (duty-cycle) in accordance with the camshaft position, crankshaft position, throttle position, etc.
| DTC No. | DTC Detection Condition | Trouble Area |

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
Tech Tips
If DTC P0010 is displayed, check the VVT system (for intake camshaft) circuit.
Read freeze frame data using the intelligent tester. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
PROCEDURE
PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (OPERATE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY)
Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
Start the engine.
Turn the tester on.
Turn the A/C switch on.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Active Test / Control the VVT Linear (Bank 1).
Check the engine speed while operating the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly (for intake camshaft) using the tester.
