INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note


  • Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

  • The window defogger system uses the AVC-LAN and LIN communication. First, confirm that there is no malfunction in the AVC-LAN and LIN communication line. Refer to the How to Proceed with Troubleshooting procedure Click here.*1

  • The window defogger system uses the CAN communication. First, confirm that there is no malfunction in the CAN communication line. Refer to the How to Proceed with Troubleshooting procedure Click here.*2

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM


    1. Check the air conditioning system.

      Tech Tips

      Both the window defogger system operation signal and air conditioning system operation signal are transmitted to the air conditioning amplifier assembly through same communication line.

      OK
      The air conditioning system operates normally.

    OK
  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING INTELLIGENT TESTER


    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the intelligent tester on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body / Air Conditioner / Active Test.

    5. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the intelligent tester.

  3. INSPECT RR DEF RELAY

      Remove the RR DEF relay from the engine room relay block assembly.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3 - 4 Battery voltage applied between terminals 1 and 2 10 kΩ or higher
      3 - 4 Battery voltage not applied between terminals Below 1 Ω
      3 - 5 Battery voltage applied between terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 Ω

    2. Reconnect the F50 connector.

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO SETTING CONDENSER - REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER WIRE)


    1. Disconnect the P31 connector.

    2. Disconnect the Y8 rear window defogger wire battery side connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      P31-1 (DEF) - Y8-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      P31-1 (DEF) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Y8-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
