| DTC Code | DTC Name |
|---|---|
| P0A0F-204 | Engine Failed to Start |
| P0A0F-205 | Engine Failed to Start |
| P0A0F-206 | Engine Failed to Start |
| P0A0F-524 | Engine Failed to Start |
| P0A0F-525 | Engine Failed to Start |
DESCRIPTION
If an engine malfunction occurs, an engine malfunction signal is sent from the ECM to the power management control ECU. When the power management control ECU receives this signal, it stores a DTC and performs fail-safe control.
| DTC No. | DTC Detection Condition | Trouble Area |
|---|---|---|
| P0A0F-204 | Signal indicating abnormality is received from the ECM (abnormal engine output) Actual engine torque is very low compared to the target torque. (1 trip detection logic) |
|
| P0A0F-205 | Signal indicating abnormality is received from the ECM (engine unable to start) (1 trip detection logic) |
|
| P0A0F-206 | Signal indicating abnormality is received from the ECM (engine component malfunctioning, drop in torque) (1 trip detection logic) |
|
| P0A0F-524 | Signal indicating abnormality is received from the ECM (abnormal NE signal) (1 trip detection logic) |
|
| P0A0F-525 | Signal indicating abnormality is received from the ECM (abnormal GI signal) (1 trip detection logic) |
| DTC No. | ECU Data List |

Tech Tips
The power management control ECU stores DTC P0A0F-204, 205, 206, 524 or 525 when it receives a signal from the ECM indicating abnormal engine power, engine starting malfunction, engine performance deterioration (running out of fuel), crank angle sensor circuit DTCs or cam position sensor circuit DTCs.
If the engine cannot start, the vehicle is driven using EV mode. However, if the vehicle is continuously driven using only EV mode, the HV battery will be discharged and the vehicle will not be able to be driven.
If any of these DTCs are output, it is required to repair the EFI system in accordance with the DTC or to add a sufficient amount of fuel.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
Tech Tips
When SFI system related DTCs are output, the power management control ECU stores DTCs P0A0F-204, 205, 206, 524 or 525.
If DTC P0A0F-524 is output, clear the DTCs, perform the following procedure, and check that the same DTC is not output after the repair.
With the vehicle and engine stopped, the power switch on (READY) and the shift lever in P, depress the accelerator pedal to start the engine.
Keep the engine running for 1 second or more.
If DTC P0A0F-525 is output, clear the DTCs, perform the following procedure, and check that the same DTC is not output after the repair.
With the vehicle and engine stopped, the power switch on (READY) and the shift lever in P, depress the accelerator pedal to start the engine.
Keep the engine running for 5 seconds or more.
PROCEDURE
CHECK DTC OUTPUT (ENGINE AND ECT)
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the power switch on (IG).
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
Check for DTCs.
| Result | Proceed to |
|---|---|
| SFI system DTCs are not output. | A |
| SFI system DTCs are output (w/ EGR System). | B |
| SFI system DTCs are output (w/o EGR System). | C |
Tech Tips
If P0A0F-204, 205, 206, 524, or 525 is output even though the ECM has not detected a malfunction, there is a malfunction in the power management control ECU.
Turn the power switch off.
