FRONT FENDER GARNISH REMOVAL

  • Use the same procedure for both the RH and LH sides.

  • The following procedure is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE FRONT FENDER MOULDING SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

      *1 Protective Tape

      Apply protective tape to the front fender panel in the area around the front fender moulding sub-assembly.

    2. Using an infrared light, heat the front fender panel and the front fender moulding sub-assembly.

      Heating Temperature
      Item Temperature
      Front Fender Panel 40 to 60°C (104 to 140°F)
      Front Fender Moulding Sub-Assembly 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)

      CAUTION:

      Do not burn yourself with the hot front fender panel and front fender moulding sub-assembly or with the infrared light.

      Note

      Do not heat the front fender panel and front fender moulding sub-assembly excessively.

      *1 Piano Wire
      *2 Wooden Block

      Insert piano wire between the front fender panel and the front fender moulding sub-assembly.

      Tech Tips

      Be careful of the boss positions.

    4. Tie objects that can serve as handles (for example, wooden blocks) to the piano wire ends.

    5. Pull the piano wire and scrape off the double-sided tape that holds the front fender moulding sub-assembly to the front fender panel.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the front fender panel.

      Using a moulding remover, disengage the 6 clips and remove the front fender moulding sub-assembly.

      Note


      • If reusing the garnish, take care not to damage the front fender moulding sub-assembly.

      • Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.
