HEADLIGHT LEVELING SWITCH INSPECTION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT HEADLIGHT LEVELING SWITCH

    Component with harness connected

    (Headlight Leveling Switch)

    1. Check the ratio.


      1. Connect the positive (+) battery lead to terminal 8 (B) and the negative (-) battery lead to terminal 5 (E).

      2. Check the ratio which is obtained by dividing the voltage between terminals 7 (T) and 5 (E) by the voltage between 6 (T) and 5 (E). The voltages must be measured using a voltmeter.

        Standard Ratio
        Switch Condition Specified Condition
        0 0.84 to 0.89
        1 0.67 to 0.73
        2 0.51 to 0.57
        3 0.36 to 0.41
        4 0.21 to 0.26
        5 0.07 to 0.10

        If the result is not as specified, replace the headlight leveling switch.

      Component without harness connected

      (Headlight Leveling Switch)

      Check the operation of the headlight leveling switch illuminates.


      1. Apply battery voltage to the headlight leveling switch illuminates terminals.

        OK
        Condition Specified Condition

        Battery positive (+) → 3

        Battery negative (-) → 2

        		 Illuminates

        If the result is not as specified, replace the headlight leveling switch.
