FRONT WIPER MOTOR INSTALLATION

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the LHD and RHD vehicles.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LHD vehicles.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY


    1. Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, install the windshield wiper motor assembly with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      7.5 N*m  { 76 kgf*cm, 66 in.*lbf }

  2. INSTALL FRONT WIPER CRANK SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Connect the windshield wiper motor assembly connector.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Operate the wiper and stop the windshield wiper motor assembly at the automatic stop position.

    4. Turn the ignition switch off.

    5. Disconnect the windshield wiper motor assembly connector.

    6. Temporarily install the front wiper crank sub-assembly on the windshield wiper motor assembly with the nut.

    7. Temporarily install the No. 1 rod on the crank arm pivot of the front wiper crank sub-assembly.

      Align the nut and crank arm pivot of the front wiper crank sub-assembly with the No. 1 rod, as shown in the illustration.

    9. Tighten the front wiper crank sub-assembly with the nut.

      Torque:
      8.5 N*m  { 87 kgf*cm, 75 in.*lbf }
    10. A004H4S

      Apply multemp SA grease to the crank arm pivot of the front wiper crank sub-assembly.

    11. A004H6G

      Connect the No. 1 rod to the crank arm pivot of the front wiper crank sub-assembly.

  3. INSTALL FRONT WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY

      *1 Grommet

      Engage the grommet, as shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the windshield when installing the front wiper motor and link assembly.

    2. Install the front wiper motor and link assembly with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      6.0 N*m  { 61 kgf*cm, 53 in.*lbf }

    3. Connect the connector.

  4. INSTALL CAP


    1. Engage the claw and install the cap.

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  5. INSTALL COWL VENTILATOR LOUVER


    1. Engage the 15 guides to install the cowl ventilator louver, as shown in the illustration.

    2. Install the 4 cowl top ventilator louver clips.

    3. Install the 3 clips.

  6. INSTALL FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL RH


    1. Engage the 4claws to install the clip and front fender to cowl side seal RH.

  7. INSTALL FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL LH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure as for the RH side.

  8. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Operate the wiper and stop the windshield wiper motor at the automatic stop position.

      When reusing the windshield wiper arm and blade assembly LH:


      1. Clean the wiper arm serrations.

    3. When reusing the windshield wiper link assembly:


      1. Clean the wiper pivot serrations with a wire brush.

      Install the windshield wiper arm and blade assembly LH with the nut to the position shown in the illustration.

      Torque:
      22 N*m  { 224 kgf*cm, 16 ft.*lbf }

      Tech Tips

      Hold the wiper arm by hand while tightening the nut.

    5. Operate the front wipers while spraying washer fluid on the windshield glass. Make sure that the front wipers function properly and there is no interference with the vehicle body.

  9. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH


    1. Operate the wiper and stop the windshield wiper motor at the automatic stop position.

      When reusing the windshield wiper arm and blade assembly RH:


      1. Clean the wiper arm serrations.

    3. When reusing the windshield wiper link assembly:


      1. Clean the wiper pivot serrations with a wire brush.

      Install the windshield wiper arm and blade assembly RH with the nut to the position shown in the illustration.

      Torque:
      22 N*m  { 224 kgf*cm, 16 ft.*lbf }

      Tech Tips

      Hold the wiper arm by hand while tightening the nut.

  10. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM COVER

      Engage the claw to install the windshield wiper arm cover.

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure for both the RH and LH sides.
