STEERING WHEEL INSTALLATION

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note


  • Do not replace the spiral cable with the battery connected and the ignition switch ON.

  • Do not rotate the spiral cable without the steering wheel with the battery connected and the ignition switch ON.

  • Ensure that the steering wheel is installed and aligned straight when inspecting the steering sensor.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL NO. 1 STEERING WHEEL ORNAMENT (w/o Steering Pad Switch)


    1. Engage the 4 claws, and install the No. 1 steering wheel ornament with the 2 screws.

  2. INSTALL LOWER STEERING WHEEL BOSS COVER


    1. Engage the 4 claws to install the lower steering wheel boss cover to the steering wheel assembly.

  3. INSTALL STEERING SHAKE DAMPER


    1. Install the steering shake damper to the steering wheel assembly with the 2 screws.

  4. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

  5. INSPECT AND ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY

  6. INSTALL STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY (w/ Steering Pad Switch)

  7. INSTALL CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH ASSEMBLY (w/ Cruise Control System)

  8. INSTALL SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY) (for Automatic Transmission)

  9. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY

      Install the steering wheel assembly aligning the matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and steering column assembly.

    2. Install the steering wheel assembly set nut.

      Torque:
      39 N*m  { 398 kgf*cm, 29 ft.*lbf }

    3. Connect the connectors to the spiral cable sub-assembly and steering wheel assembly.

  10. INSTALL HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY

  11. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Torque:
    6.0 N*m  { 61 kgf*cm, 53 in.*lbf }

  12. CHECK STEERING WHEEL CENTER POINT

  13. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT

  14. PERFORM VSC SENSOR NEUTRAL MEMORIZATION
