REAR BRAKE(for Opposed Type Caliper) INSTALLATION

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for RH and LH sides.

  • The procedure listed below is for LH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL REAR DISC


    1. When reusing the rear disc


      1. Align the matchmarks placed when removing, and install the rear disc to the axle hub.

    2. When replacing the rear disc


      1. Install a new front disc to the axle hub and measure the disc runout Click here.

        Tech Tips

        When using a new rear disc, install it so that rear disc runout is minimum.

    3. Temporarily tighten the hub nuts and fix the rear disc to the axle hub.

  2. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE

    Click here

  3. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING HOLE PLUG


    1. Install the parking brake shoe adjusting hole plug to the rear disc.

  4. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Install the rear disc brake cylinder assembly LH with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      73 N*m  { 744 kgf*cm, 54 ft.*lbf }
  5. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE PAD KIT


    1. A004INV

      Apply disc brake grease to the rear disc brake pad and rear No. 1 disc brake anti squeal shim.

    2. Install the rear disc brake pad to the rear disc brake cylinder assembly LH.

      Tech Tips

      Install the rear No. 1 disc brake anti squeal shim so that the arrow mark faces up.

    3. Install the rear No. 1 disc brake pad support plate, 2 rear No. 1 disc brake rear cylinder slide pins, and 2 slid pin clips.

  6. CONNECT REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE LH


    1. Connect the rear left flexible hose LH with 2 new gaskets and a new union bolt.

      Torque:
      26 N*m  { 265 kgf*cm, 19 ft.*lbf }
  7. ADD BRAKE FLUID

  8. BLEED BRAKE LINE

  9. INSPECT BRAKE FLUID LEAK

  10. INSPECT FLUID LEVEL

    Click here

  11. INSTALL REAR WHEEL

    Torque:
    120 N*m  { 1224 kgf*cm, 89 ft.*lbf }
