STEERING LOCK SYSTEM DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST

  1. READ DATA LIST

    Tech Tips

Using the GTS to read the Data List allows the values or states of switches, sensors, actuators and other items to be read without removing any parts. This non-intrusive inspection can be very useful because intermittent conditions or signals may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Reading the Data List information early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time.

    Note

In the table below, the values listed under "Normal Condition" are reference values. Do not depend solely on these reference values when deciding whether a part is faulty or not.

    1. Turn the engine switch off.

    2. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    3. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    4. Turn the GTS on.

    5. Enter the following menus: Body / (desired system) / Data List.

    6. According to the display on the GTS, read the Data List.

    7. Using the GTS, confirm the Data List items to help determine the cause of the problem.

      Note

      • The steering lock actuator assembly (steering lock ECU) communicates with the GTS through the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) which uses CAN communication. If the CAN communication system or certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) is malfunctioning, Data List items may not be normal.

      • When using the GTS with the engine switch off (lock), perform either of the following: 1) Turn a courtesy light switch on and off at intervals of 1.5 seconds or less until communication between the GTS and vehicle begins, or 2) connect the GTS to the vehicle and select "Manual" from the initial screen on the GTS. Select "Key Code Registration" under model code.
