CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT
Tech Tips
Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.
The procedure listed below is for the LH side.
PROCEDURE
REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
SEPARATE FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY
for floating type caliper
Remove the 2 bolts and separate the front disc brake caliper assembly from the steering knuckle.
Note
Hang the front disc brake caliper assembly using a piece of string or equivalent.
for opposed type caliper
Remove the 2 bolts and front disc brake cylinder mounting, and then separate the front disc brake cylinder assembly from the steering knuckle.
Note
Hang the front disc brake cylinder assembly using a piece of string or equivalent.

REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB BOLT
Using SST, remove the front axle hub bolt from the front axle hub sub-assembly.

| *3 | Claw | *4 | SST (Spacer B) |
| *a | Place a Wrench Here | - | - |
|
Molybdenum Grease | |
Turn |
CAUTION:
Before working, apply molybdenum grease to the bolt threads and bolt tip of SST.
Note
Install SST so that claw and body are parallel.
Make sure to tie the string of SST to the vehicle to prevent SST from dropping.
Do not damage the front disc brake dust cover.
Do not damage the front axle hub.
Do not damage the steering knuckle.
INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB BOLT
| *1 | Nut |
| *2 | Washer |
| *3 | Turn |
| *4 | Hold |
Set a new axle hub bolt onto the front axle hub, and tighten the nut (M12 x P1.25mm (0.0492 in.)) through the washer plate to install the axle hub bolt.
Note
Install the nuts to prevent damage to the front axle hub bolts.

INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY
for floating type caliper
Install the front disc brake caliper assembly to the steering knuckle with 2 new bolts.
| *a | Torque Wrench Fulcrum Length |
for opposed type caliper
Install the front disc brake cylinder assembly and front disc brake cylinder mounting with the 2 bolts.
Note
When installing the front disc brake cylinder assembly and front disc brake cylinder mounting, hand-tighten the 2 bolts temporarily until they cannot be turned further, and tighten them to the specified torque.
Tech Tips
When tightening the upper bolt, use a union nut wrench.
Calculate the torque wrench reading when changing the fulcrum length of the torque wrench.
When using a union nut wrench (fulcrum length of 30 mm (1.18 in.)) + torque wrench (fulcrum length of 400 mm (15.7 in.)): 111.6 N*m (1138 kgf*cm, 82 ft.*lbf)
