PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY

      Component without harness connected

      (Fuel Injector Assembly)

      Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 20°C (68°F) 12 Ω

      If the resistance is not as specified, replace the fuel injector assembly.

    2. Inspect the injection volume.

      CAUTION:

      This test involves high-pressure fuel and electricity. Take all precautions regarding safe handling of both the fuel and the electricity. Perform this test in a safe area, and avoid any sparks or flames. Do not smoke.

      Disconnect the fuel tube. (for metal type)

      Disconnect the fuel hose. (for clamp type)

      Connect SST (hose) to the fuel pipe (vehicle side) with SST (hose band).

    6. Install the O-ring to the fuel injector assembly.

      Install SST and vinyl tube to the fuel injector assembly.

      Tie SST (clamp and adapter) together with SST (tie band) as shown in the illustration.

      Put the injector into a graduated cylinder.

      CAUTION:

      Install a strong rubber tube onto the injector to prevent gasoline from splashing.

    10. Operate the fuel pump (turn the ignition switch to ON).

    11. Connect SST (wire) to the injector and the battery for 15 seconds, and measure the injection volume with the graduated cylinder. Test each injector 2 or 3 times.

      Standard injection volume
      84 to 103 cc (5.1 to 6.3 cu.in.) per 15 seconds
      Difference between each injector
      19 cc (1.2 cu.in.) or less

      Note


      • Make sure that SST (EFI inspection wire I) is securely connected.

      • Always turn on and off the voltage on the battery side, not on the fuel pump side.

      If the injection volume is not as specified, replace the fuel injector assembly.

    12. Check for leakage.

        In the condition above, disconnect the tester probes of SST (wire) from the battery and check for fuel leakage from the fuel injector assembly.

        Standard fuel drop
        1 drop or less in 22 minutes

        If there is excessive leakage, replace the fuel injector assembly.
