  • The pressure difference between non-purge and purge is less than threshold for 26 seconds or more.

  • Regardless of forced vent valve on (close) and purge being carried out, the pressure difference between non-purge and purge is less than threshold for 21 seconds or more.

  • Purge valve

  • Purge line

  • Connector/wire harness (Purge valve - ECM)

  • ECM

  • Leak from EVAP system

MONITOR DESCRIPTION

The purge flow monitor runs while the engine is running. The purge flow monitor consists of 2 monitors. The 1st monitor is conducted every time and the 2nd monitor is activated if necessary.


CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN

*3 0 km/h (0 mph)
*4 10 minutes or more

  1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

  2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the GTS on.

  3. Clear DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure) Click here.

  4. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.

  5. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the GTS on.

  6. Start the engine.

  7. Drive the vehicle at 60 km/h (40 mph) or more for 10 minute or more [A].

    CAUTION:

    When performing the confirmation driving pattern, obey all speed limits and traffic laws.

  8. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.

  9. Read pending DTCs.

    Tech Tips


    • If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.

    • If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.

  10. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / All readiness.

  11. Input the DTC: P0441.

  12. Check the DTC judgment result.

    NORMAL

    • DTC judgment completed

    • System normal
    ABNORMAL

    • DTC judgment completed

    • System abnormal
    INCOMPLETE

    • DTC judgment not completed

    • Perform driving pattern after confirming DTC enabling conditions
    N/A

    • Unable to perform DTC judgment

    • Number of DTCs which do not fulfill DTC preconditions has reached ECU memory limit

    Tech Tips


    • If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.

    • If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.

  13. If the judgment result is INCOMPLETE or N/A and no pending DTC is output, perform a universal trip and check for permanent DTCs Click here.

    • If a permanent DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.

    • If no permanent DTC is output, the system is normal.

PROCEDURE


  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING GTS (ACTIVATE THE VSV FOR EVAP CONTROL)

      Connect a GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Disconnect the vacuum hose (canister side) from the purge valve.

    3. Start the engine.

    4. Turn the GTS on.

    5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Active Test / Activate the VSV for EVAP Control.

    6. When the purge valve is operated using the GTS, check whether the port of the purge valve applies suction to your finger.

  2. INSPECT EVAP LEAK PART


    1. Check for leakage from EVAP system (hose, disconnection, cracks, etc.).
