REAR DOOR DISASSEMBLY

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.


  1. PRECAUTION

    Note

    After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the auxiliary battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Click here.

  2. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR MAT


    1. Remove the luggage compartment floor mat.

  3. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER LH


    1. Remove the luggage compartment trim cover LH.

  4. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM AUXILIARY BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  5. REMOVE REAR POWER WINDOW REGULATOR SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH REAR DOOR ARMREST BASE PANEL


    1. A01FVID

      Detach the 2 clips and 5 claws.

    2. Disconnect the connector and remove the rear power window regulator switch assembly with rear door armrest base panel.

  6. REMOVE REAR DOOR INSIDE HANDLE BEZEL PLUG LH

      Detach the 3 claws and remove the rear door inside handle bezel plug.

  7. REMOVE REAR DOOR HOLE COVER


    1. Remove the rear door hole cover.

  8. REMOVE REAR DOOR TRIM BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

      Remove the 3 screws.

    2. Detach the 8 clips.

      Detach the reference boss in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration.

    4. Using a screwdriver, detach the 3 claws and remove the rear door trim board.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    5. Disconnect each connector.

      Disconnect the rear door lock remote control cable and rear door inside locking cable.

  9. REMOVE REAR CURTAIN SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (w/ Rear Sunshade)


    1. A01FVMS

      Remove the 7 screws and rear curtain.

  10. REMOVE REAR DOOR INSIDE HANDLE ILLUMINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY LH


    1. A01FRXT

      Detach the claw and remove the rear door inside handle illumination light assembly LH.

    2. Disconnect the connector.

  11. REMOVE REAR DOOR INSIDE HANDLE SUB-ASSEMBLY LH


    1. A01FSTB

      Remove the 14 screws and rear door inside handle together with the rear door trim ornament and No. 1 interior illumination light.

    2. A01FVS8

      Remove the screw.

    3. Detach the claw and remove the rear door inside handle.

  12. REMOVE REAR DOOR TRIM ORNAMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY LH


    1. A01FUOP

      Detach the 3 claws and remove the rear door trim ornament from the No. 1 interior illumination light.

  13. REMOVE NO. 2 COURTESY LIGHT ASSEMBLY


    1. A01FR6D

      Detach the claw and remove the No. 2 courtesy light assembly.

    2. Disconnect the connector.

  14. REMOVE REAR DOOR TRIM SEAL LH

      Detach the 9 clips and remove the rear door trim seal.

  15. REMOVE REAR DOOR NO. 1 STIFFENER CUSHION

      Remove the rear door No. 1 stiffener cushion.

  16. REMOVE REAR DOOR TRIM COVER LH

      Detach the 6 clips and remove the rear door trim cover.

  17. REMOVE REAR DOOR INNER GLASS WEATHERSTRIP LH

      Remove the rear door inner glass weatherstrip.

  18. REMOVE REAR SIDE CURTAIN ASSEMBLY LH (w/ Rear Sunshade)

      Detach the 4 claws and 2 clips and remove the rear side curtain.

  19. REMOVE REAR DOOR FRAME GARNISH LH


    1. A01FTUZ

      Detach the 2 clips and remove the rear door frame garnish.

  20. REMOVE REAR DOOR ARMREST SET BRACKET LH


    1. A01FSGD

      Remove the 2 screws and rear door armrest set bracket.

  21. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY


    1. A01FRO1

      Disconnect the connector.

    2. Remove the screw.

    3. Detach the clamp and remove the rear No. 2 speaker assembly.

      Note

      Do not touch the cone of the speaker.

  22. REMOVE REAR SPEAKER ASSEMBLY

      Disconnect the connector.

    2. Remove the 4 screws.

    3. Detach the claw and remove the rear speaker assembly.

      Note

      Do not touch the cone of the speaker.

  23. REMOVE REAR DOOR SERVICE HOLE COVER LH


    1. A01FV40

      Pull out the rear door lock remote control cable and rear door inside locking cable from the rear door service hole cover, and then remove the rear door service hole cover.

      Tech Tips

      Remove any remaining butyl tape from the rear door panel.

  24. REMOVE REAR DOOR REAR LOWER WINDOW FRAME SUB-ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Temporarily install the rear power window regulator switch assembly with rear door armrest base panel.

    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

    3. Move the rear door window regulator so that the rear door glass channel can be seen.

    4. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

      Note

      When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

    5. Remove the rear power window regulator switch assembly with rear door armrest base panel.

      Partially remove the rear door glass run as shown in the illustration.

    7. A01FVIR

      Remove the screw and 2 bolts.

    8. A01FS87

      Remove the rear door rear lower window frame together with the rear door glass run as shown in the illustration.

    9. A01FPXS

      Remove the rear door rear lower window frame from the rear door glass run.

  25. REMOVE REAR DOOR QUARTER WINDOW GLASS LH


    1. A01FSKO

      Remove the rear door quarter window glass.

  26. REMOVE REAR DOOR QUARTER WINDOW WEATHERSTRIP LH


    1. A01FV6J

      Remove the rear door quarter window weatherstrip from the rear door quarter window glass.

  27. REMOVE REAR DOOR GLASS SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

      Remove the rear door glass from the rear door window regulator as shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Do not damage the door glass.

      Using a screwdriver, remove the rear door glass channel.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  29. REMOVE REAR DOOR GLASS CHANNEL FILLER

      Remove the rear door glass channel filler.

  30. REMOVE REAR DOOR GLASS RUN LH


    1. Remove the front side of the rear door glass run.

  31. REMOVE REAR DOOR BELT MOULDING ASSEMBLY LH

      Put protective tape around the rear door belt moulding.

    2. Detach the 4 claws and remove the rear door belt moulding.

  32. REMOVE REAR DOOR WINDOW REGULATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Disconnect the connector.

      *1 Temporary Bolt

      Loosen the temporary bolt.

      Note

      Do not remove the temporary bolt. If the temporary bolt is removed, the rear door window regulator may fall and become damaged.

    3. Remove the 3 bolts and rear door window regulator.

    4. Remove the temporary bolt from the rear door window regulator.

  33. REMOVE REAR DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Disconnect the connector.

      Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the 3 screws.

    3. Move the rear door lock assembly downward and pull the release plate out of the rear door outside handle frame.

    4. Remove the door lock wiring harness seal from the rear door lock assembly.

      Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, loosen the screw and remove the rear door outside handle cover.

      Using a screwdriver, detach the 2 claws of the connector cover in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration and disconnect the connector cover.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

      Remove the rear door outside handle by sliding and pulling it in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration.

  38. REMOVE REAR DOOR FRONT OUTSIDE HANDLE PAD

      Detach the 3 claws and remove the rear door front outside handle pad.

      Detach the 2 claws and remove the rear door rear outside handle pad.

  40. REMOVE REAR DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE FRAME SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

      Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, loosen the screw and remove the rear door outside handle frame.

    2. A01FQDB

      Detach the clamp of the rear door wire.

  41. REMOVE REAR DOOR NO. 2 WEATHERSTRIP LH


    1. A01FRGF

      Detach the 5 clips and remove the rear door No. 2 weatherstrip.

  42. REMOVE REAR DOOR NO. 3 WEATHERSTRIP LH

      Remove the double-sided tape and rear door No. 3 weatherstrip.

  43. REMOVE REAR DOOR DUST PROOF SEAL

      Detach the claw and remove the rear door dust proof seal.

  44. REMOVE REAR DOOR PANEL CUSHION

      Remove the rear door panel cushion.

  45. REMOVE REAR DOOR CHECK ASSEMBLY LH

      Remove the bolt, 2 nuts and rear door check.

  46. REMOVE REAR DOOR WEATHERSTRIP LH

      Detach the 22 clips and remove the rear door weatherstrip.

  47. REMOVE REAR DOOR FRONT BELT MOULDING END COVER LH

    Tech Tips

    When removing the rear door front belt moulding end cover, heat the rear door panel and rear door front belt moulding end cover using a heat light.

    Rear Door Front Belt Moulding End Cover 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)

    Note

    Do not heat the rear door panel or rear door front belt moulding end cover excessively.

    2. Using a moulding remover, detach the 2 clips.

    3. Detach the double-sided tape to remove the rear door front belt moulding end cover.

  48. REMOVE REAR DOOR FRONT WINDOW FRAME MOULDING LH

    Tech Tips

    When removing the rear door front window frame moulding, heat the rear door panel and rear door front window frame moulding using a heat light.

    Note

    Do not heat the rear door panel or rear door front window frame moulding excessively.

      Put protective tape around the rear door front window frame moulding.

    2. Using a moulding remover, detach the clip.

    3. Detach the double-sided tape and butyl tape, and then detach the guide and remove the rear door front window frame moulding.

  49. REMOVE REAR DOOR WINDOW FRAME MOULDING SUB-ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Put a 4 mm (0.157 in.) drill bit into a drill.

    2. Wind tape around the drill bit approximately 5 mm (0.197 in.) from the tip of the drill as shown in the illustration.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the 4 mm (0.157 in.) drill bit to prevent the drill bit from going too deep.

    3. Lightly press the drill against the 8 rivets and drill off the flanges of the 8 rivets.

      CAUTION:

      Be careful of the drilled rivet as it may become hot.

      Note


      • Pressing the drill too firmly will cause the rivet to turn and result in the rivet not being drilled through.

      • Do not pry the rivet with the drill because this may cause damage to the installation holes of the rivet or the drill bit.

    4. Detach the 2 clips and remove the rear door window frame moulding.

    5. Using a vacuum cleaner, remove the rivet fragments and shavings from the drilled area.
