ROOF HEADLINING REMOVAL

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for RHD and LHD vehicles.

  • The procedure listed below is for LHD vehicles.


  1. DISABLE AUTO TILT AWAY FUNCTION


    1. Disable the autoaway/return function by changing the customize parameter Click here.

      CAUTION:

      Record the current customize parameter setting (whether the autoaway/return function is enabled or disabled) in order to restore the current setting after finishing the operation.

      Tech Tips

      Performing the above operation causes the autoaway/return function to be disabled when the power switch is turned off.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG). Operate the tilt and telescopic switch to fully extend and lower the steering column assembly.

    3. Turn the power switch off.

  2. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR MAT


    1. Remove the luggage compartment floor mat.

  3. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER LH


    1. Remove the luggage compartment trim cover LH.

  4. PRECAUTION

    Note

    After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the auxiliary battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Click here.

  5. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM AUXILIARY BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  6. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH


    1. for Sports Seat Type:

      Click here

    2. for Luxury Seat Type:

      Click here

    3. for Standard Seat Type:

      Click here

  7. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY RH

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  8. REMOVE REAR SEAT ASSEMBLY

    Click here

  9. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH


    1. Place your hands on the inner portion of the front door scuff plate LH and detach the 2 claws labeled A, 6 claws labeled B and 2 claws labeled C in the order shown in the illustration.

    2. Raise the front door scuff plate LH to detach the 4 clips on the outer side and remove it.

  10. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  11. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH

    1. Detach the 5 claws and remove the front door opening trim cover LH.

  12. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER RH

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  13. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH

    1. Pull the upper part of the garnish toward the inside of the cabin and detach the 2 clips.

      Tech Tips

      Make the front pillar garnish LH hang down from the front pillar garnish clip.

      Turn the end of the front pillar garnish clip 90° with needle-nose pliers and remove it from the front pillar garnish LH.

      Note


      • Front pillar garnish clips are reusable if they are not removed from the vehicle and have no damage.

      • Replace the front pillar garnish clips with new ones if they are removed from the vehicle.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the tips of the needle-nose pliers before use.

    3. Detach the guide and remove the front pillar garnish LH.

      Protect the curtain shield airbag assembly.


      1. Completely cover the airbag with a cloth or nylon sheet and secure the ends of the cover with adhesive tape as shown in the illustration.

        Note

        Cover the curtain shield airbag with a protective cover as soon as the front pillar garnish is removed.

  14. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH

  15. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY

  17. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH


    1. Place your hands on the inner portion of the rear door scuff plate LH and detach the 2 claws labeled A, 6 claws labeled B and 2 claws labeled C in the order shown in the illustration.

    2. Raise the rear door scuff plate LH to detach the 4 clips on the outer side and remove it.

  18. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  19. REMOVE LOWER CENTER PILLAR GARNISH LH

    1. Pull both sides of the lower center pillar garnish LH outward to detach the 2 claws.

    2. Detach the 5 clips and 2 guides and remove the lower center pillar garnish LH.

  20. REMOVE LOWER CENTER PILLAR GARNISH RH

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  21. REMOVE UPPER CENTER PILLAR GARNISH LH

    1. Remove the 2 screws.

    2. Detach the clip.

    3. Pass the front seat outer belt floor anchor through the center pillar garnish, and remove the center pillar garnish LH.

  22. REMOVE UPPER CENTER PILLAR GARNISH RH

  23. REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH LH

    1. Detach the 4 claws and guide and remove the rear seat side garnish LH.

  25. REMOVE INNER ROOF SIDE GARNISH LH

    1. w/ Rear Sunshade:


      1. Detach the 4 clips.

      2. Detach the 3 guides and the end of the rear window shade assembly, and then remove the inner roof side garnish LH.

  26. REMOVE INNER ROOF SIDE GARNISH RH

  27. REMOVE FRONT ROOF TOP GARNISH

    1. w/ Night View System:


      1. Using a moulding remover, detach the 2 claws A.

      2. Using a moulding remover, detach the 2 clips A.

        Tech Tips

        When the 2 clips A are detached, claw B, guide B and the fastener may also become detached.

      3. Detach the 2 clips B.

      4. Move the hooks of the 2 guides A forward, disconnect the connector, and remove the front roof garnish together with the map light assembly.

        Note

        When removing and installing the front roof top garnish, do not apply force to the camera sensor located at (x).

        Tech Tips

        If the claw B, guide B, and fastener do not become detached when the 2 clips labeled A are detached, detach claw B, guide B and the fastener to remove the front roof top garnish together with the map light assembly.

        Detach the 3 claws on the back of the front roof top garnish and map light assembly, and disconnect the front roof top garnish and map light assembly.

    2. w/o Night View System:


      1. Using a moulding remover, detach the 2 claws A.

      2. Using a moulding remover, detach the 2 clips A.

        Tech Tips

        When the 2 clips A are detached, claw B and guide B may also become detached.

      3. Detach the 2 clips B.

      4. Move the hooks of the 2 guides A forward, disconnect the connector, and remove the front roof garnish together with the map light assembly.

        Note

        w/ Lane Keeping Assist System:

        When removing and installing the front roof top garnish, do not apply force to the camera sensor located at (x).

        Tech Tips

        If the claw B and guide B do not become detached when the 2 clips labeled A are detached, detach claw B and guide B to remove the front roof top garnish together with the map light assembly.

  28. REMOVE MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY

    1. w/ Night View System:


      1. Using a moulding remover, detach the 2 claws A.

      2. Using a moulding remover, detach the 2 clips A.

        Tech Tips

        When the 2 clips A are detached, claw B, guide B and the fastener may also become detached.

      3. Detach the 2 clips B.

      4. Move the hooks of the 2 guides forward, disconnect the connector, and remove the map light assembly together with the front roof top garnish.

        Note

        When removing the map light assembly together with the front roof top garnish, make sure not to apply excessive pressure to the camera sensor (x).

        Tech Tips

        If claw B, guide B and the fastener do not become detached when the 2 clips labeled A are detached, detach claw B, guide B, and the fastener to remove the map light assembly together with the front roof top garnish.

        Detach the 3 claws on the back of the map light assembly and front roof top garnish, and disconnect the map light assembly and front roof top garnish.

    2. w/o Night View System:


      1. Using a moulding remover, detach the 2 claws A.

      2. Using a moulding remover, detach the 2 clips A.

        Tech Tips

        When the 2 clips A are detached, claw B and guide B may also become detached.

      3. Detach the 2 clips B.

      4. Move the hooks of the 2 guides forward, disconnect the connector, and remove the map light assembly together with the front roof top garnish.

        Note

        w/ Lane Keeping Assist System:

        When removing the map light assembly together with the front roof top garnish, make sure not to apply excessive pressure to the camera sensor (x).

        Tech Tips

        If claw B and guide B do not become detached when the 2 clips labeled A are detached, detach claw B and guide B to remove the map light assembly together with the front roof top garnish.

    1. Using a screwdriver, detach the 4 claws and remove the visor bracket cover.

  30. REMOVE VISOR ASSEMBLY LH

    2. Remove the 2 screws and visor assembly LH.

  32. REMOVE VISOR HOLDER

    1. Turn the visor holder clockwise approximately 45° and pull it out as shown in the illustration.

    2. Detach the 2 claws and remove the visor holder.

  33. REMOVE ASSIST GRIP SUB-ASSEMBLY

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure for both assist grips.


    1. Put protective tape around the assist grip covers.

    2. Using a screwdriver, detach the 4 claws and remove the 2 assist grip covers.

    3. Detach the 2 clips and remove the assist grip sub-assembly.

    4. Remove the 2 clips from the vehicle body.

  34. REMOVE REAR ASSIST GRIP ASSEMBLY LH

    1. Put protective tape around the assist grip covers.

    2. Using a screwdriver, detach the 4 claws and remove the 2 assist grip covers.

    3. Detach the 2 clips and remove the rear assist grip assembly LH.

    4. Remove the 2 clips from the vehicle body.

  35. REMOVE REAR ASSIST GRIP ASSEMBLY RH

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  36. REMOVE ROOF HEADLINING ASSEMBLY


    1. Disconnect the connectors for the rain sensor, inner mirror, air conditioning thermistor, lane recognition camera sensor and night view camera.

      w/ Sliding Roof:


      1. Disconnect the drive gear connector.

    3. A01FQMH

      Disconnect the connector and detach the 3 clamps from the front pillar LH.

    4. A01FTNL

      Disconnect the connector and detach the 3 clamps from the front pillar RH.

    5. A01FRSL

      Disconnect the connector and detach the clamp from the rear pillar RH.

    6. w/ Sliding Roof:


      1. Detach the 12 claws, 3 clips, 3 guides and 11 fasteners.

      1. Detach the 12 claws, 3 clips, 2 guides and 3 fasteners.

    8. Move the roof headlining as shown in the illustration and remove it from the right front door.

      Note


      • Make sure that the roof headlining does not get caught on anything as it may become bent or damaged.

      • Do not damage the roof headlining or vehicle interior.
