STEERING WHEEL INSTALLATION


  1. INSTALL STEERING SHAKE DAMPER


    1. Install the shake damper with the 2 screws.

  2. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL HEATER CONTROL ASSEMBLY (w/ Steering Heater)


    1. Install the steering wheel heater control assembly to the lower steering wheel boss cover with the 2 screws.

    2. Attach the connector clamp.

  3. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL BOSS LOWER COVER


    1. Attach the 4 claws to install the steering boss cover to the steering wheel assembly.

    2. w/ Steering Heater:

      Connect the connector to the steering wheel heater control assembly.

  4. INSTALL TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. Connect the 2 No. 1 switch wire connectors to the 2 transmission shift switch assemblies.

      Note

      Make sure to only connect the connectors to each corresponding color.

    2. Install the transmission shift switch assembly with switch wire with the 2 screws.

    3. Connect the connector and attach the 4 guides to install the No. 1 switch wire.

  5. INSTALL LOWER NO. 1 STEERING WHEEL BOSS COVER


    1. Install the lower No. 1 steering wheel boss cover with the 2 screws.

  6. INSTALL CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH WIRE


    1. Install the cruise control switch wire.

  7. INSTALL CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH


    1. Install the cruise control main switch with the 2 screws.

    2. Connect the connector.

    3. Attach the clamp.

  8. INSTALL STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. Attach the 2 claws and 2 pins to install the pad switch assembly.

    2. Install the 2 screws.

    3. Connect the connector and clamp.

    4. Connect the connector to the spiral cable.

  9. ADJUST SPIRAL WITH SENSOR CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY

    Note

    Do not adjust the spiral cable with the auxiliary battery connected and the power switch on (IG).


    1. Check that the power switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Check if the spiral cable sub-assembly is centered.

      Tech Tips

      When the spiral cable sub-assembly is centered, the alignment marks are aligned and the colored roller (yellow) or flat cable shown in the illustration is visible.

    4. If the spiral cable sub-assembly is not centered, center it.

      While pushing on the interlock indicated in the illustration, rotate the spiral cable sub-assembly counterclockwise slowly by hand until it stops.

      Note


      • When rotating the spiral cable sub-assembly, make sure to push on the interlock indicated in the illustration to release the interlock mechanism.

      • Do not turn the spiral cable sub-assembly using the airbag wire harness.

    6. A01FU52E01

      While pushing on the interlock indicated, rotate the spiral cable sub-assembly clockwise approximately 2.5 turns to the position where the colored roller (yellow) or flat cable is visible.

      Note


      • When rotating the spiral cable sub-assembly, make sure to push on the interlock indicated in the illustration to release the interlock mechanism.

      • Do not turn the spiral cable sub-assembly using the airbag wire harness.

      Tech Tips

      The spiral cable will rotate approximately 2.5 turns to both the left and right from the center.

  10. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY


    1. Align the matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and steering main shaft assembly.

    2. Install the steering wheel assembly set nut.

      Torque:
      50 N*m  { 510 kgf*cm, 37 ft.*lbf }

    3. Connect the connectors to the spiral cable.

  11. INSTALL STEERING PAD

  12. CHECK FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

  13. PERFORM VARIABLE GEAR RATIO STEERING SYSTEM CALIBRATION (w/ VGRS)
