DESCRIPTION

When electric parking brake switch assembly is pulled to the release side, a release request signal is output to parking brake ECU assembly.

All of following conditions are met:


  1. Power switch is on (IG), or when power switch is off, electric parking brake switch assembly release control is operating

  2. Terminal REL1 voltage is less than 1.4 V or more than 9 V; or terminal REL2 voltage is less than 1.4 V* or more than 9 V*

  3. Problem occurs for approx. 1 sec.


  • Electric parking brake switch assembly

  • Wire harness or connector

  • Parking brake ECU assembly

Both of following conditions are met:


  1. Power switch is on (IG), or when power switch is off, electric parking brake switch assembly release control is operating

  2. ON/OFF judgment of release switch 1 and release switch 2 does not match for approx. 1 sec.


  • Electric parking brake switch assembly

  • Wire harness or connector

  • Parking brake ECU assembly

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note


  • If the parking brake ECU assembly is replaced, perform the "Reset Memory" and "Acquire Tension Sensor Zero Point" procedures Click here.

  • Before disconnecting connectors or fuses, turn the power switch off and wait 20 seconds or more.

  • The electric parking brake switch interior's linked double contacts may become unlinked (one is off, one is on) if the switch is halfway pushed/pulled. If this condition continues for 1 second or more, this DTC is output.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE SWITCH


    1. Remove the electric parking brake switch assembly Click here.

    2. Inspect the electric parking brake switch assembly Click here.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARKING BRAKE ECU - ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE SWITCH)


    1. Disconnect the U37 parking brake ECU assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the N23 electric parking brake switch assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      U37-16 (REL1) - N23-5 (RLS1) Always Below 5 Ω
      U37-16 (REL1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      U37-13 (REL2) - N23-4 (RLS2) Always Below 5 Ω
      U37-13 (REL2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N23-7 (GND1) - Body ground Always Below 5 Ω

  3. CLEAR DTC


    1. Turn the power switch off.

    2. Securely install the parking brake ECU assembly connectors and electric parking brake switch assembly.

    3. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    4. Turn the power switch on (IG) and the GTS on.

    5. Clear the DTC Click here.

  4. CHECK FOR DTC


    1. Turn the power switch off.

    2. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    3. Turn the power switch on (IG) and the GTS on.

    4. Perform the electric parking brake switch release control.

    5. Check for DTC Click here.
