PRECAUTION
Note
Adjust the brake fluid level so that the fluid level is at MAX line with the power switch on (IG).
Perform fluid replacement with the shift lever in P and the parking brake set.
As brake fluid may overflow when fluid is released from the brake actuator, do not leave the brake fluid can in the reservoir filler opening when adding brake fluid.
Perform brake fluid replacement while adding fluid to maintain the fluid level between the MIN and MAX lines of the reservoir.
If the pump motor operates with air inside the No. 1 brake actuator tube (between the master cylinder and actuator), air becomes trapped inside the actuator and is difficult to bleed.
While performing fluid replacement, the accumulator pressure drop may cause a buzzer to sound. As there is no problem, continue with the fluid replacement.
During fluid replacement, DTCs for pressure sensor malfunctions, etc. may be stored. After fluid replacement and if instructed in the procedures, clear the DTCs.
Do not allow brake fluid to contact the vehicle's paint surfaces. If contact occurs, clean it off immediately.
REPLACE BRAKE FLUID (when Using the GTS)
Replace the brake fluid.
Remove the brake master cylinder reservoir filler cap assembly.
Add brake fluid so that the fluid level is between the MIN and MAX lines of the brake fluid reservoir.

| SAE J1703 or FMVSS No. 116 DOT 3 |
With the power switch off, connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the power switch on (IG), turn the GTS on, and enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRC / ECB (Electronically Controlled Brake system) Utility / ECB (Electronically Controlled Brake system) Invalid.
Repeatedly depress the brake pedal to drain the fluid from the bleeder plug of the front disc brake cylinder RH.
Note
Add fluid so that the fluid level does not drop below the MIN line on the brake fluid reservoir.
After bleeding the fluid, depress and hold the brake pedal, and tighten the bleeder plug.
In the same way as the RH side, drain fluid from the bleeder plug of the front disc brake cylinder LH.
While depressing the brake pedal, loosen the bleeder plug of the rear disc brake cylinder LH. While the pump motor and solenoid are operating, drain the fluid.
Note
Add fluid do than the fluid level does not drop below the MIN line on the brake fluid reservoir.
After bleeding the fluid, tighten the bleeder plug and release the brake pedal.
In the same way as the LH side, drain fluid from the bleeder plug of the rear disc brake cylinder RH.
Follow the GTS screen, to end ECB (Electronically Controlled Brake system) Invalid.
Clear DTCs Click here.
Turn the GTS off and turn the power switch off.
Check for brake fluid leaks.
Inspect and adjust the brake fluid level in the reservoir Click here.
REPLACE BRAKE FLUID (when Not Using the GTS)
Note
Performing the following procedure will select ECB (Electronically Controlled Brake system) Invalid without using the GTS.
ECB (Electronically Controlled Brake system) Invalid allows the brake fluid to be replaced without using the GTS.
The brake warning light / yellow will blink to indicate when ECB (Electronically Controlled Brake system) Invalid is selected.
Be sure to check the brake warning light / yellow is blinking while replacing the brake fluid.
Do not rotate the brake disc rotor while ECB (Electronically Controlled Brake system) Invalid.
When replacing brake fluid from the rear brake line, do not depress the brake pedal more than 30 seconds.
While replacing brake fluid, the accumulator pressure drop may cause a buzzer to sound. As there is no problem, continue with replacing.
Add brake fluid carefully and check that the reservoir level remains between the MIN and MAX lines.
Do not stand the fluid can on the reservoir inlet. Doing so will cause brake fluid to overflow.
Remove the 4 wheels.
Select ECB (Electronically Controlled Brake system) Invalid.
Perform the procedure listed below in 1 minute.
Turn the power switch on (IG) with the shift lever in P and parking brake applied.
Move the shift lever to N and then depress the brake pedal more than 8 times in 5 seconds.
Move the shift lever to P and then depress the brake pedal more than 8 times in 5 seconds.
Move the shift lever to N and then depress the brake pedal more than 8 times in 5 seconds.
Move the shift lever to P.
Check that the brake warning light / yellow is blinking.
Note
When one of the following conditions is met, ECB (Electronically Controlled Brake system) Invalid is cancelled.
The shift lever is moved from P to any other position.
The engine is started.
Turn the power switch off.
The parking brake is released.
The vehicle velocity is not 0 km/h (0 mph).
Replace the brake fluid.
Remove the brake master cylinder reservoir filler cap assembly.
Add brake fluid so that the fluid level is between the MIN and MAX lines of the brake fluid reservoir.
