      *1 A/C Switch
      *a Example

Check that A/C switch indicator remains on when the following conditions are met.

      Measurement Condition
      Item Condition
      A/C Switch On
Air Conditioning, operation time 15 minutes or more
      Ambient temperature* 0 to 49°C (32 to 120°F)
Engine coolant temperature 45°C (113°F) or more

*: If the ambient temperature is not within the range shown, do not perform this check.

      Tech Tips

The A/C switch indicator and air conditioning system turn off if the amount of refrigerant in the system is insufficient.

    3. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    4. Check for DTC B14B8 Click here.

      Result
Result Amount of Refrigerant Corrective Action
DTC B14B8 is output Empty or nearly empty

Check for refrigerant leaks using a halogen leak detector, and repair if necessary Click here.

DTC B14B8 is not output Correct or insufficient Perform a refrigerant shortage check using the GTS.
  2. REFRIGERANT SHORTAGE CHECK USING THE GTS

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (Ready).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Air Conditioner / Utility / Refrigerant Shortage Check.

    5. According to the display on the GTS, perform the refrigerant shortage check when the following conditions are met.

      Measurement Condition
      Item Condition
      A/C Switch On
      Ambient temperature* 0 to 49°C (32 to 120°F)

*: If the ambient temperature is not within the range shown, do not perform this check.

      Tech Tips

      • Refer to the GTS operator's manual for further details.

      • A message indicating a refrigerant shortage is displayed on the GTS and the air conditioning system turns off if the amount of refrigerant in the system is insufficient.

      • DTCs are not stored when performing the refrigerant shortage check using the GTS.

      Result
Result Amount of Refrigerant Corrective Action
      Refrigerant shortage Insufficient or leakage
      1. Check for refrigerant leaks using a halogen leak detector, and repair if necessary Click here.

      2. Evacuate the air conditioning system and charge it with the appropriate volume of new or purified refrigerant Click here.

      Refrigerant correct Correct -
  3. INSPECT THE ENERGY CONSERVATION AIRFLOW CONTROL

    1. Put the vehicle in the following conditions. [*1]

      Measurement Condition
      Item Condition
Vehicle body Vehicle stopped in the shade
      Doors Fully open
      Blower speed Low or more
      A/C switch On
    2. With the conditions in step [*1], set the air conditioning to AUTO mode and allow the blower vent temperature to stabilize (approximately 5 to 6 minutes).

    3. A01FSCZ

Check that the S-FLOW switch indicator illuminates when the S-FLOW switch is operated once.

    4. Check the operation of the energy conservation airflow control function.

      Tech Tips

      • When the cooling or heating operation systems are not being operated and the ambient and vehicle interior temperatures are stable, the system enters front seat air blow control mode. If the system is in front seat air blow control mode, the ambient and vehicle interior temperatures are stabilized, and only the driver's seat is occupied, the system automatically enters driver seat air blow control mode.

      • The system may not enter driver seat control mode due to the ambient temperature, etc.

      1. w/ Rear Control Switch:

        1. When only the driver's seat is occupied, check that airflow to the rear seats stops, the rear control panel turns off, airflow to the front passenger seat stops, and the set temperature display turns off.

        2. When the front passenger seat is occupied, check that airflow to the rear seats stops, the rear control panel turns off, and airflow to the driver's and front passenger seats continues.

        3. Check that the S-FLOW switch indicator turns off and energy conservation airflow control is canceled when the S-FLOW switch is operated once again or when the rear control switch is changed to AUTO mode or turned OFF.

      2. w/o Rear Control Switch:

        1. When only the driver's seat is occupied or when the front passenger seat is occupied, check that airflow to the rear seats stops, airflow to the driver's and front passenger seats continues.

        2. Operate the S-FLOW switch once again and check that the S-FLOW switch indicator turns off and that energy conservation airflow control is canceled.
