HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM Kick Down Switch Circuit

DESCRIPTION

If the power management control ECU receives a kick down switch signal, the power that can be output increases to enable more powerful driving. If there is an open in the kick down switch circuit or the power management control ECU erroneously recognizes the switch signal, power output is limited to the same level as for when the kick down switch is off.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE


  1. READ VALUE USING GTS (KICK DOWN SWITCH STATUS)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Kick Down Switch Status.

    4. Read the value displayed on the GTS.

      Accelerator pedal is fully depressed:

    5. Turn the power switch off.

  2. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (KICK DOWN SWITCH CONNECTOR)

      Check the connector connections and contact pressure of the relevant terminals for the kick down switch assembly connector Click here.

  3. CHECK POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU


    1. Disconnect the connector from the kick down switch assembly.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

      Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

    4. Turn the power switch off.

    5. Connect the kick down switch assembly connector.

  4. INSPECT KICK DOWN SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the kick down switch assembly Click here.

      Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A3-1 (E) - A3-2 (KD) Press Below 1 Ω
      A3-1 (E) - A3-2 (KD) Release 10 kΩ or higher
    3. Install the kick down switch assembly.

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (KICK DOWN SWITCH ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND)


    1. Disconnect the connector from the kick down switch assembly.

    2. Disconnect the connector from the kick down switch assembly.

    4. Connect the power management control ECU connector.

    5. Connect the kick down switch assembly connector.
