REAR DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION


  1. INSTALL REAR DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER ASSEMBLY

    1. Using a 12 mm hexagon wrench, temporarily install the differential carrier to the suspension member with 3 new bolts (A).

    2. Install the 2 rear upper differential mount stoppers and 2 rear lower differential mount stoppers.

    3. Temporarily install the rear differential carrier to the suspension member with 2 new bolts (B).

    4. Using a 12 mm hexagon wrench and torque wrench, tighten the 3 bolts (A) to the specified torque.

      Torque:
      103 N*m  { 1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf }

    5. Using a torque wrench, tighten the 2 bolts (B) to the specified torque.

      Torque:
      95 N*m  { 970 kgf*cm, 70 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      Do not tilt the inner tube or rubber parts when tightening the differential mount stopper.

  7. ADD DIFFERENTIAL OIL

      *a 0 to 5 mm (0 to 0.196 in.)

      Add differential oil so that the oil level is within 5 mm (0 to 0.196 in.) of the bottom lip of the differential filler plug hole.

      Note


      • Too much or too little oil will lead to differential problems.

      • After changing the oil, drive the vehicle and then check the oil level again.

      Oil type and viscosity
      Toyota genuine differential gear oil LT 75W-85 GL-5 or equivalent
      Standard Differential Oil Capacity
      1.30 to 1.40 liters (1.38 to 1.48 US qts, 1.15 to 1.23 Imp. qts)

    2. Install a new gasket and the filler plug.

      Torque:
      49 N*m  { 500 kgf*cm, 36 ft.*lbf }
