DYNAMIC RADAR CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM FAIL-SAFE CHART

  1. AUTO CANCEL

    1. If the following conditions are detected while the dynamic radar cruise control system is in operation, the system clears the stored vehicle speed in the driving support ECU and cancels the dynamic radar cruise control operation (Constant speed control mode and vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode).

      • Problem with vehicle speed signal

      • Open or short in stop light switch circuit

      • There is a sensor or driving support ECU destination determination malfunction

The cruise control main switch is turned on again.
    2. If the following conditions are detected while the dynamic radar cruise control system is in operation, the system clears the stored vehicle speed in the driving support ECU and cancels the dynamic radar cruise control operation (Vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode).

      • There is problem with millimeter wave radar sensor

      • Beam axis of millimeter wave radar sensor deviates

The power switch is turned on (IG) again.
    3. If the following conditions are detected while the dynamic radar cruise control system is in operation, the system maintains the stored vehicle speed in the driving support ECU and cancels the dynamic radar cruise control operation (Vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode).

      • There is dirt on millimeter wave radar sensor

      • Windshield wiper switch is in HI position

      • The millimeter wave radar sensor is extremely unstable.

The condition on the left is recovered from (RESUME operation is possible after recovery) or the cruise control main switch is turned on again.
    4. When the following condition is met, the stored vehicle speed is cleared and cruise control operation is canceled, as the vehicle may be excessively loaded or the stored vehicle speed may be too high (constant speed control mode).

      • The actual vehicle speed is below the stored vehicle speed by 16 km/h (10 mph) or more (SET operation is possible).

    5. When the following condition is met, the stored vehicle speed is maintained and cruise control operation is canceled (vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode and constant speed control mode).

      • The actual vehicle speed drops below the low speed limit (SET and RESUME operations are possible).

    6. When the following condition is met, the stored vehicle speed is cleared and cruise control operation is canceled. Control is prohibited until the cruise control main switch is turned off and then on again.

      • There is a throttle body malfunction.

Under the following conditions, cruise control is canceled. At this time, the warning beep continues to sound until the driver depresses the brake pedal, and "Cruise Control not available Depress the brake pedal" is displayed in the combination meter assembly.

        • The radar cruise system is malfunctioning.

        • The millimeter wave radar sensor assembly is dirty.

        • The millimeter wave radar sensor assembly is extremely hot.
