DESCRIPTION

The engine hood courtesy switch is installed together with the hood lock. This switch turns on when the engine hood is closed and turns off when the engine hood is opened.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note

If the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) is replaced, refer to the Service Bulletin.

PROCEDURE


  1. READ VALUE USING GTS (HOOD COURTESY SW)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Data List.

    5. According to the display on the GTS, read the Data List.

      ON: Engine hood closed

      OFF: Engine hood open

      The indicator on the GTS switches between ON and OFF in accordance with the engine hood courtesy switch (hood lock assembly) status.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH - MAIN BODY ECU)


    1. Disconnect the B10 engine hood courtesy switch (hood lock assembly) connector.

    2. Remove the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) from the cowl side junction block LH Click here.

    3. Connect the cowl side junction block LH connectors.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B10-1 (+) - A-20 (HCTY) Always Below 1 Ω
      B10-1 (+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH - BODY GROUND)


    1. Disconnect the B10 engine hood courtesy switch (hood lock assembly) connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B10-2 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

  4. INSPECT ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH (HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY)

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      1 - 2 Locked Below 1 Ω

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COWL SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK LH - ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH)


    1. Disconnect the 5D cowl side junction block LH connector.

    2. Disconnect the B10 engine hood courtesy switch (hood lock assembly) connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      5D-28 - B10-1 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
      5D-28 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
