MAIN BODY ECU REMOVAL


  1. PRECAUTION

    Note

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Click here.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH


    1. Place your hands on the inner portion of the front door scuff plate LH and detach the 2 claws labeled A, 6 claws labeled B and 2 claws labeled C in the order shown in the illustration.

    2. Raise the front door scuff plate LH to detach the 4 clips on the outer side and remove it.

  4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH

    1. Detach the 5 claws and remove the front door opening trim cover LH.

  5. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH

    1. Put protective tape around the instrument side panel LH.

    2. Using a moulding remover, detach the 7 clips and remove the instrument side panel LH.

  6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END LH

    1. Put protective tape around the instrument panel finish panel end LH.

    2. Detach the 5 clips and 2 guides and remove the instrument panel finish panel end LH.

  7. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL

    1. Put protective tape around the center instrument cluster finish panel.

    2. Detach the 9 clips and guide.

    3. Disconnect the connector and remove the center instrument cluster finish panel.

  8. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY (for LHD)

    1. Detach the 9 clips and guide.

    2. Disconnect the connectors and remove the No. 1 instrument panel safety pad sub-assembly.

  9. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL GARNISH SUB-ASSEMBLY (for LHD)

    1. Put protective tape around the No. 1 instrument panel garnish sub-assembly.

    2. Using a moulding remover, detach the 4 clips and remove the No. 1 instrument panel garnish sub-assembly.

  10. REMOVE NO. 1 LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (for LHD)

    CAUTION:

    When storing the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.


    1. Check that the engine switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      Remove the 4 bolts.

    4. Detach the hook and pin to separate the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly.

      Note

      When separating the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly, do not pull the airbag wire harness.

    5. Detach the 3 claws to disconnect the hood lock control lever sub-assembly from the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly.

      Using a screwdriver with the tip wrapped with protective tape, release the airbag connector lock.

    7. Disconnect the airbag connector to remove the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly.

      Note

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

  11. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for RHD)

    1. Detach the 5 clips and 2 guides.

    2. Disconnect the connectors, detach the clamp and remove the No. 2 instrument panel under cover sub-assembly.

  12. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY (for RHD)

    1. Remove the 3 screws <A> and 2 bolts <E>.

    2. Detach the 6 clips.

    3. Disconnect the connectors, detach the clamp and remove the glove compartment door assembly.

  13. REMOVE CLEARANCE WARNING ECU ASSEMBLY (for LHD)


    1. for LHD:


      1. A01FIH1

        Disconnect the connector.

      2. Remove the nut and clearance warning ECU assembly.

        Note

        Avoid any impact to the clearance warning ECU.

    2. A01FFB1

      for RHD:

      Detach the 2 claws and remove the clearance warning ECU assembly.

      Note

      Avoid any impact to the clearance warning ECU.

  14. REMOVE COWL SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK LH

      1. Detach the 5 connectors.

      2. Using a clip remover, detach the 2 clamps.

      for AWD:


      1. Detach the 2 connectors.

      2. Using a clip remover, detach the clamp.

      for 2WD, w/o VGRS:


      1. Detach the connector.

      2. Using a clip remover, detach the clamp.

    4. A01FGOY

      Disconnect the 7 connectors.

      Remove the bolt and nut, and remove the cowl side junction block LH.

    6. A01FJ4X

      Disconnect the 2 connectors and remove the cowl side junction block LH.

  15. REMOVE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU)

      Press the claw of the junction block as shown in the illustration to release the lock.

    2. With the junction block lock released, insert a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape horizontally between the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) and junction block.

      Note

      Use a screwdriver with a diameter of between 5.0 mm (0.197 in.) and 6.3 mm (0.248 in.) and a length of approximately 90 mm (3.54 in.).

      Using the screwdriver, carefully raise the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) up to the position where the connector becomes disengaged.

      Note

      Do not insert the screwdriver between the junction block and the connector of the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU).

      Do not twist the screwdriver to raise the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU).

      Raise the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) as shown by the arrow (1), and then pull it out as shown by the arrow (2) in the illustration.

      Note

      Do not touch the ECU connector.
