LEXUS PARKING ASSIST-SENSOR SYSTEM Clearance Sonar Main Switch Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The back sonar or clearance sonar switch assembly is installed at the base of the driver side of the instrument panel.

When the clearance sonar main switch is turned on, an on signal is sent to the clearance warning ECU assembly. The LEXUS parking assist-sensor system operates according to this signal.

Note

Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

PROCEDURE


  1. READ VALUE USING GTS


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Clearance Sonar / Data List.

    5. According to the display on the GTS, read the Data List.

      Both of the following conditions are met:


      • The display changes as shown above when the clearance sonar main switch is operated.

      • "Normal" is displayed.

      • The display does not change as shown above when the clearance sonar main switch is operated.

      • "Normal" is displayed.

      Disconnect the back sonar or clearance sonar switch assembly connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      N57-4 (IG) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      Engine switch off Below 1 V

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CLEARANCE WARNING ECU ASSEMBLY - BACK SONAR OR CLEARANCE SONAR SWITCH ASSEMBLY)


    1. Disconnect the N10 clearance warning ECU assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the N57 back sonar or clearance sonar switch assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N10-38 (CLSW) - N57-5 (ECU) Always Below 1 Ω
      N10-38 (CLSW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
