DESCRIPTION
The multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU forms a network with the ECUs of other systems via CAN communication. Each ECU informs the other ECUs that it is connected to the network by sending a specified signal (periodic signal) onto the communication bus on a regular basis. The multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU receives vehicle speed signals from the combination meter assembly via the CAN communication bus to prevent improper operation of the auto away/return function while driving.

Tech Tips
A vehicle speed of 3 km/h (2 mph) or more may be displayed on the GTS immediately after the vehicle comes to a sudden stop. This is caused by a delay in vehicle signal received via CAN communication and is not a malfunction.
If the vehicle is suddenly stopped and the engine switch is immediately turned off, resulting in the last vehicle speed signal received by the multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU to be 10 km/h (6 mph) or more, a vehicle speed malfunction DTC is stored.
