VARIABLE GEAR RATIO STEERING SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:C1595/55, C15C4/68

DTC Code DTC Name
C1595/55 Lost Communication with Steering Angle Sensor Module(SIL)
C15C4/68 Steering Signal Not Detected

DESCRIPTION

Signal transmission between the VGRS ECU (front steering control ECU) and steering sensor is performed via serial communication.

If a serial communication error occurs between the VGRS ECU (front steering control ECU) and steering sensor, the ECU stores DTC C1595/55.

The test mode DTC C15C4/68 is only stored during test mode.

DTC Code DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
C1595/55 The VGRS ECU (front steering control ECU) detects a serial communication error between the ECU and steering sensor.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note

  • When replacing the VGRS ECU (front steering control ECU), perform actuator angle neutral position calibration and initialization after replacement Click here.

  • Since DTC C1B09/19 is stored in the DRS ECU (rear steering control ECU), after performing repairs on the VGRS system, clear the DTCs for the dynamic rear steering system.

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK DTC

    1. Check for DTCs Click here.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT STEERING CONTROL ECU - STEERING SENSOR)

    1. Turn the engine switch off.

    2. Disconnect the N104 VGRS ECU (front steering control ECU) connector.

    3. Disconnect the N33 steering sensor connector.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N104-5 (SS1-) - N33-9 (SS2-) Always Below 1 Ω
      N104-6 (SS1+) - N33-8 (SS2+) Always Below 1 Ω
N104-5 (SS1-) - Body ground Always 100 kΩ or higher
N104-6 (SS1+) - Body ground Always 100 kΩ or higher
      N104-5 (SS1-) - N104-6 (SS1+) Always 1000 kΩ or higher

(VGRS ECU [Front Steering Control ECU])

Reconnect the VGRS ECU (front steering control ECU) connector.

    2. Reconnect the N33 steering sensor connector.

    3. Start the engine.

    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Tech Tips

With the connector connected to the VGRS ECU (front steering control ECU), measure the voltage from the rear of the connector.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
N104-5 (SS1-) - N104-6 (SS1+) Steering wheel rotated slowly Pulse waveform that alternates between 0 and 5 V is output
