REMOVE STATOR SHAFT O-RING
Remove the stator shaft O-ring from the oil pump assembly.
SECURE FRONT OIL PUMP BODY SUB-ASSEMBLY
| *1 | Torque Converter Assembly |
Place the oil pump assembly on the torque converter assembly.
REMOVE CLUTCH DRUM OIL SEAL RING
Remove the 3 clutch drum oil seal rings.
REMOVE STATOR SHAFT ASSEMBLY
Using "TORX" socket wrench T30, remove the 14 screws and the stator shaft assembly.
REMOVE FRONT OIL PUMP BODY O-RING
Remove the front oil pump body O-ring from the front oil pump body sub-assembly.
Remove the front oil pump body sub-assembly from the torque converter assembly.
INSPECT FRONT OIL PUMP BODY SUB-ASSEMBLY
Using a caliper gauge, measure the inside diameter of the oil pump body bushing.
Maximum inside diameter
---
38.138 mm (1.50 in.)
If the inside diameter is more than the maximum inside diameter, replace the front oil pump body assembly.
INSPECT STATOR SHAFT ASSEMBLY
Using a caliper gauge, measure the inside diameter of the stator shaft bushing.
Maximum inside diameter
---
Front side
21.527 mm (0.848 in.)
Rear side
32.03 mm (1.26 in.)
If the inside diameter is more than the maximum inside diameter, replace the stator shaft assembly.
INSPECT CLEARANCE OF OIL PUMP ASSEMBLY
Push the front oil pump driven gear to one side of the front oil pump body sub-assembly.
Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance.
Standard body clearance
---
0.10 to 0.17 mm (0.00394 to 0.00669 in.)
If the body clearance is more than the standard clearance, check the front oil pump drive gear, front oil pump driven gear and front oil pump body sub-assembly.
Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance between the front oil pump driven gear teeth and the front oil pump drive gear teeth.
Standard tip clearance
---
0.070 to 0.150 mm (0.00276 to 0.00590 in.)
If the tip clearance is more than the standard clearance, check the front oil pump drive gear, front oil pump driven gear and front oil pump body sub-assembly.
Using a steel straightedge and a feeler gauge, measure the side clearance of both gears.
Standard side clearance
---
0.03 to 0.05 mm (0.00118 to 0.00196 in.)
There are 7 different thicknesses for the front oil pump drive gears and front oil pump driven gears.
| Front Oil Pump Drive Gear Thickness | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
