STARTER DISASSEMBLY


  1. REMOVE REPAIR SERVICE STARTER KIT

      Remove the nut and disconnect the lead wire from terminal C.

    2. A01FEXSE01

      Remove the 2 screws holding the repair service starter kit.

    3. Remove the repair service starter kit.

    4. Remove the return spring and plunger.

  2. REMOVE STARTER YOKE ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 2 through bolts, and pull out the starter yoke and commutator end frame together.

  3. REMOVE STARTER COMMUTATOR END FRAME ASSEMBLY

      Remove the starter commutator end frame from the starter yoke.

  4. REMOVE STARTER ARMATURE PLATE

      Remove the plate from the starter yoke.

  5. REMOVE STARTER COMMUTATOR END FRAME COVER

      Using a screwdriver, remove the cover.

  6. REMOVE STARTER ARMATURE ASSEMBLY


    1. Hold the starter commutator end frame in a vise between aluminum plates.

      Note

      Do not overtighten the vise.

    2. A01FIZFE03

      Using snap ring pliers, remove the snap ring and plate washer.

    3. Remove the starter armature from the commutator end frame.

      Note

      Do not drop the starter armature assembly.

  7. REMOVE PLANETARY GEAR


    1. A01FHAWE01

      Remove the 3 planetary gears.

  8. REMOVE STARTER CENTER BEARING CLUTCH SUB-ASSEMBLY

    A01FGSGE01

    1. Remove the starter center bearing clutch together with the drive lever set pin from the starter drive housing.

    2. Remove the drive lever set pin from the starter center bearing clutch.
