SFI SYSTEM Cold Start Injector Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The cold start injector is attached to the intake air surge tank and is designed to improve startability when the engine is cold. It operates when the engine coolant temperature is -12°C (10°F) or less, and the starter signal is on.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note

Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT COLD START INJECTOR


    1. Inspect the cold start injector Click here.

    OK
  2. INSPECT ECM (STJ1 VOLTAGE)


    1. A01FGK3E38

      Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified condition
      A21-24 (STJ1) - F4-1 (E1) Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COLD START INJECTOR - ECM)


    1. Disconnect the cold start injector connector.

    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified condition
      F41-1 - A21-24 (STJ1) Always Below 1 Ω
      F41-1 or A21-24 (STJ1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the ECM connector.

    5. Reconnect the cold start injector connector.
