VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:C1436

DTC Code DTC Name
C1436 Yaw Rate Sensor Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) receives signals from the yaw rate sensor via the CAN communication system.

The yaw rate sensor has a built-in acceleration sensor and detects the vehicle's condition using 2 circuits (GL1, GL2).

If there is a malfunction in the bus lines between the yaw rate sensor and the CAN communication system, DTCs U0123 (Lost Communication with Yaw Rate Sensor Module) and U0124 (Lost Communication with Lateral Acceleration Sensor Module) are set.

These DTCs are also output when calibration has not been completed.

DTC Code DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
C1436

Either of the following is detected:

  1. With the vehicle stationary, the yaw rate sensor output value is not 0 deg/s.

  2. Abnormal comparison value.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note

When replacing the yaw rate sensor, perform zero point calibration Click here.

Tech Tips

When DTC U0123 and/or U0124 is output together with DTC C1436, inspect and repair the trouble areas indicated by DTC U0123 and/or U0124 first Click here.

PROCEDURE

  1. READ VALUE USING GTS (YAW RATE SENSOR/YAW RATE SENSOR 2)

    1. Turn the engine switch off.

    2. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    3. Start the engine.

    4. Turn the GTS on.

    5. Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRC / Data List.

  2. CHECK YAW RATE SENSOR INSTALLATION

    1. Turn the engine switch off.

    2. Check that the yaw rate sensor has been installed properly Click here.

      OK
The sensor should be tightened to the specified torque.
The sensor should not be installed in a tilted position.
