DESCRIPTION
The skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) receives signals from the yaw rate sensor via the CAN communication system.
The yaw rate sensor has a built-in acceleration sensor and detects the vehicle's condition using 2 circuits (GL1, GL2).
If there is a malfunction in the bus lines between the yaw rate sensor and the CAN communication system, DTCs U0123 (Lost Communication with Yaw Rate Sensor Module) and U0124 (Lost Communication with Lateral Acceleration Sensor Module) are set.
These DTCs are also output when calibration has not been completed.
| DTC Code | DTC Detection Condition | Trouble Area |
|---|---|---|
| C1436 | Either of the following is detected:
|
Yaw rate sensor |

Note
When replacing the yaw rate sensor, perform zero point calibration Click here.
Tech Tips
When DTC U0123 and/or U0124 is output together with DTC C1436, inspect and repair the trouble areas indicated by DTC U0123 and/or U0124 first Click here.
PROCEDURE
READ VALUE USING GTS (YAW RATE SENSOR/YAW RATE SENSOR 2)
Turn the engine switch off.
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Start the engine.
Turn the GTS on.
Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRC / Data List.
| Tester Display | Measurement Item/Range | Normal Condition | Diagnostic Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yaw Rate Sensor | Yaw rate sensor / min.: -128 °/s, max.: 127 °/s | Vehicle stationary: 0 °/s Right turn: -128 to 0 °/s Left turn: 0 to 127 °/s |
- |
| Yaw Rate Sensor2 | Yaw rate sensor 2 / min.: -128 °/s, max.: 127 °/s | Vehicle stationary: 0 °/s Right turn: -128 to 0 °/s Left turn: 0 to 127 °/s |
- |
Check that the yaw rate sensor output value displayed on the GTS.
| Result | Proceed to |
|---|---|
| NG (The yaw rate sensor output value is 0 °/s when the vehicle is stationary, but the value fluctuates when turning) | A |
| NG (The yaw rate sensor output value is not 0 °/s when the vehicle is stationary) | B |
