SFI SYSTEM PRECAUTION


  1. INITIALIZATION

    Note


    • Perform initialization (throttle position) after replacing the throttle body with motor assembly or cleaning any throttle body components Click here.

    • Perform initialization (throttle position) after reconnecting the battery cable or replacing the ECM Click here.

    • Make sure to perform Reset Memory (AT initialization), when replacing the automatic transmission assembly (for A760E), engine assembly or ECM Click here.

    • Make sure to perform Reset Memory (AT initialization), when replacing the automatic transmission assembly (for A760H), engine assembly or ECM Click here.

    Tech Tips

    Reset memory or initialization cannot be completed by only disconnecting and reconnecting the cable of the negative (-) battery terminal.

  2. FOR USING GTS

    CAUTION:

    Observe the following items for safety reasons:


    • Before using the GTS, read the instruction manual.

    • Prevent the GTS cable from being caught on the pedals, shift lever or steering wheel when driving with the GTS connected to the vehicle.

    • When driving the vehicle for testing purposes using the GTS, 2 persons are required. One is for driving the vehicle, and the other operates the GTS.

  3. DISCONNECTING AND RECONNECTING NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE

    1. Before performing work on electronic components, disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent damage to the electrical system or electrical components.

      Note

      After the engine switch is turned off, the multi-media module receiver assembly records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, be sure to wait for the time specified in the following table before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

    2. Before disconnecting and reconnecting the battery cable, turn the engine switch off and the headlight switch off. Then loosen the terminal nut completely. Do not damage the cable or terminal.

    3. When the battery cable is disconnected, the clock and radio settings and stored DTCs are cleared. Therefore, before disconnecting the battery cable, make a note of them.
